"Really such a nice place to stay for a few days in Victoria. The breakfasts were amazingly good & lots of choices. The room was perfect & we liked going up to the rooftop to look at the citadella at night after getting a drink and a dessert at Chapeau. Lovely!"

"Memorable excellent stay at this brand new botique hotel, quiet and peaceful area in Gozo. Every where clean and tidy, and most of all Ramona is extremely helpful when ever needed. Must try."

"Massimo's property is a really lovely place to end the day and relax.
Breakfast was perfect to get us fueled up for a long day of walking ahead!
Beautiful view from the bedroom balcony and great communication from a wonderful host.
Taxi's are easy around Gozo, but when visiting Victoria the bus is also convenient. "

"Stayed 3 nights, all went well, comfy room. Helpful underground parking for our rental car. There's a big construction site behind the hotel, new hotel/hotels going up. Rooms facing sea aren't affected, those facing street are a bit. It's not the hotel's fault. Nice outside pool, but we just stayed on the sunbeds /umbrellas at the sea (access to swim via short metal ladders). Better than the nearby sand beach. Satisfying all you can eat breakfast with lots of choices"
"Great stay overall. The room was modern with plenty of outlets and charging options for devices. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and made for a great night’s sleep. The shower—it had excellent water pressure and felt luxurious. I would happily stay here again."
"The hotel itself is very nice, and the rooms are exceptionally clean. However, there were a few important issues that we were not informed about in advance.
Our room was on the 4th floor, but the windows and balcony overlooked the reception area located on the 3rd floor. Because of this, all the noise from the reception carried directly into the room. The phone at reception rang very frequently, and conversations could also be heard.
This was not much of a problem during the day since we were usually out, but in the evening it was difficult to fall asleep. The sound insulation is very poor, and any noise from the reception area was clearly audible in the room. Opening the balcony door made the situation even worse, as the noise became very loud.
Another issue was the complete lack of natural sunlight in the room. This would have been understandable if the room overlooked an internal courtyard, but that was not the case. The room felt dark all the time, both during the day and at night, almost as if you were staying in a basement. It made the room feel quite closed in and less comfortable to spend time in.
If you decide to stay at this hotel, I strongly recommend asking in advance where your room will be located and whether it overlooks the reception area. Apart from these issues, the hotel was clean, modern, and well maintained."
"Great hotel and setting is amazing but attention to details with guest services needs work , we had 2 rooms , one of the rooms air con wasn’t working properly and smelt bad I raised this twice with them but nothing was done , also on the day of check out we received a letter under our door welcoming us to the hotel and mentioning that we can claim a free bottle of house wine during our stay , but only receiving this letter on the morning of check out meant we couldn’t use the offer , I asked to remove another drink from the bill but they were unable to do so , they offered the wine to take away but not something I could have done as was literally about to leave for the airport .
Food was great , restaurant staff were great and friendly it’s just the little things that spoilt it a little , otherwise rating would have been higher"
"The Solana is a fantastic hotel.
The staff were lovely and incredibly helpful - advising us what buses to get and where from (as the regular stops were temporarily closed), as well as advising us of all local discounts.
Check in and check out were simple and deficient.
The swimming pools on the roof were well maintained and have fantastic views of Mellieha,
The breakfast buffet had am excellent choice of food and the service was exemplary.
If you are staying in Mellieha and want to stay near the town centre, I would thoroughly recommend the Solana Hotel and Spa"
"The room was immaculately clean apart from a build up of mould on shower door. Views are unparalleled. The property is more faded glory than grand. 1980s high quality was evident but has not aged well. Overall property quality control definitely lacking. V dated decor and furniture that has seen far too many uses for its star rating. Peeling paint on railings, mismatched furniture with water rings, badly sized rug with curling edges, creating a trip hazard and dirty balcony windows are examples of deterioration that could have easy fixes. Guests with mobility issues would struggle. Bath tub ruled out use of the shower. Hand rails in short supply around the property. Fridge and tv did not work. The plug for the tv is a European plug, rather than a three pin British plug.
The theme of dated decor extended to the breakfast room/ restaurant. Very 1980s. The breakfast had some problems. I arrived in the restaurant at 1015, having arrived at the hotel at 0400. A very showy look at the watch on the part of the person who seated me almost yielded disappointment as it was evident a “latecomer” was not welcome. I was not aware that there was a buffet as no one bothered to say something like “the buffet is in the next room” and sat for about 5 minutes before being told that I had to rush because the buffet was closing. The hot items were cold. The bacon was sitting on top of bread. As I am gluten free, a normally safe option for me was ruled out. The coffee was distinctly sub par."
