Wonderful welcoming common areas, clean and well equipped and space for food to be stored etc. Nearby spa and facilities and when moving often the staff were really great and did laundry for us although arrived late and stayed only one night. Really friendly and helpful staff

Friendly staff, very well-equipped kitchen and good communal facilities. My only complaint is that the en-suite sink was so small, and with a poorly positioned shelf above, that there wasn’t enough room to brush my teeth or wash my hands!

Room was tight but comfortable. We came in late after an all-day excursion. They gave us to muffins and a delicious lentil veggie stew, which was all we needed before turning in. The clean, busy dining area and kitchen were well equipped with a great coffee machine that made delicios hot java!

Staff extremely friendly, lovely warm muffin on arrival and help with my bags. Spotless, comfy room, nice bed, water and coffee/tea supplies and a large TV. This would have been a 5 star review if not for the noise from the upstairs room as the walls are very thin. I heard everything all night and hardly slept. It’s the not fault of the hotel so I feel bad marking down but maybe invest in some sound proofing. Other than that…lovely!

Spent just one night after a full day tour from Christchurch. Staff at check-in were lovely and helpful. While we didn't get to spend a lot of time in the room it served its purpose. Although it was on the small size it was clean, quiet, and had a great bed. Only complaint was that the bathroom sink was too small. But we liked that the hotel offered its guests complementary (good) coffee, muffins, and a public space with a microwave, toaster, TV, computer, games, and a popcorn machine. It's walking distance to restaurants and a grocery store, which is always a plus for us.

The staff were friendly and very helpful in getting our luggage up to our family room. We appreciated the lovely extras - muffins on arrival, popcorn and marshmallows, and homemade soup in the communal kitchen.

Great location, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The onsite amenities in the shared kitchen were very nice. The rooms were a bit noisy but got quiet after 9 pm and the sinks are super tiny, otherwise it was a great choice for our two nights in the area.

Above and beyond service and friendliness. Our host was exceptional at check in, providing a complimentary fresh warmed blueberry muffin for each traveler. Rooms were warm, clean & comfortable. Common area spacious, friendly, very well equipped, with complementary coffee, vegetable soup (home made!), popcorn. Full kitchen. Also a gym and spa available. Our departure from the region was delayed, and we were allowed access to the common area after check out by the very generous host. HIGHLY recommended.

Wild Kea Lodge was perfect for our 2 night stay in Franz Josef. Our comfort room was a good base for exploring the area. The communal kitchen and dining area was really handy. The lodge is in the centre of the township so really convenient for amenities.
