"Ok, we admit it. We travelers from the USA are spoiled when it comes to hotel accommodations. While traveling in Europe, we can manage, quaint, tight rooms with tiny baths and showers, but after a couple weeks, you need a break. MacClean House in Ft. William was welcomed relief. Exceptionally clean and newly renovated, we spread out in a large king bedroom with sitting area and a spacious (by local standards) bath with a nice soaking tub. Check in, while a bit ‘digital age’-ish was efficient...

"BAD HOTEL! dirty dirty! Room was so old and floor worn bad. Bath tub was falling apart ceiling dripping. Sheets was not comfortable.tv broken for 300.00 US dollars a night!!!!! I want a refund!!!"

"Stayed here for a few days while driving from Skye to Edinburgh. Parking was easy. Mediocre hotel. Staff was frequently missing from the front desk, so had to wait a number of times. The place was sufficiently clean. There are two grocery stores and a McDonalds in close walking distance. While there was nothing wrong with this spot, I would probably go for a nicer hotel next time."

"We booked this property in April 2026 thinking it was one house made up of one dwelling. We booked one night and after some deliberation we booked a second consecutive night separately believing it would be the same property. Upon arrival at the property we soon realized the house was divided into two separate residences, an east wing and a west wing. At no point did Black Sheep Hotels tell us that the property was made up of two residences and that we had in fact booked one night in each...

"The room was nice with a close location to the main town. Breakfast was just a cold buffet rather than a cooked meal"

"We paid to be in a suite which advertised a king-size bed, but the reality was it was a queen. All of the suites were in the backside of the property which offered no elevator lift. Access to the rooms had to be through an alleyway and then up two flights of stairs. Maneuvering 250 pound large carry-on bags up two flights of stairs was a little bit of an annoyance. I would’ve thought that the sweets also would’ve had air-conditioning but they did not."

"We were there during the weekend when the town held a special event about mountain bike. Luckily, the hotel was out of the city centre, so the night was peaceful and quiet. The room was spacious. Only one particularly dislike was that from the bathroom window, the afternoon sun was so strong that we could have got sunburn sitting on the toilet. And there was no curtain on bathroom window. Well, it was a very unusually sunny that day. "
