"Our first time at the Pelican. Been going to Pompano/Fort Lauderdale for theast 10 years in February. It is a nice place but expensive (compared to comparable beach resorts). The parking alone is $70.00 a night for a truck and there is a resort fee of roughly $50.00 per day. Evian water bottles in room have $4.00 signs and a larger glass water bottle goes for $7.00. Just felt i was nickel and dimed for everything. "

"The building and facility itself is old. The bathroom in my room at FRP just slapped on the walls to try to renovate. Some of the furniture around the pool was rusted out to the point where it looked like it would fall over."

"Our room had partial beach/ocean view. The room was clean and our beds were made and our towels were changed every day. The beds were comfy, shower was running well, coffee machine was very old (not a Keurig), mini fridge was a good size, no microwave, ice machine had no ice. Hotel was quiet in a very nice neighborhood. Lots and lots of restaurants within walking distance. David was great at check in, he even gave us two free drinks voucher. Everyone was kind around the hotel. We really liked the attached restaurant. Pool area was clean. The restaurant around the pool had good food and drinks. Cafe had many nice drinks and breakfast options like bagels and muffins. Their coffee was great. Also Starbucks has great seating by the sidewalk with great full moon views. One very awkward thing to me was that there was no balcony at all. I don’t smoke but I’d like to sit outside when I’m in the room but it wasn’t an option even for ocean front rooms. It’s an old but well maintained hotel with direct beach access via an over the road bridge so I can recommend it to everyone. "

"This hotel is several separate buildings that seem like they were previously condos. The room that our friends were staying in (different building than ours) seems to have been updated somewhat recently, while our room was very outdated. Our room was on the ground floor and smelled very musty/moldy. It was dark, sort of dank, and not very clean. Based on the two rooms I saw, the reviews of this place make sense. It could be hit or miss with the rooms depending on where you get placed! The pools/outdoor areas were nice, the staff was friendly, and the location was very convenient. I didn’t hate it but I also wouldn’t stay there again. "
