"There was no pool and aircon was only in room, possibly in the resto downstairs, but in no common areas. Lovely staff, good food, nice decor and art. Lots of stairs. Airport shuttle was reasonable and good. "

"Construction noise marred our stay. Electric jack hammering sounds on a Sunday from 7am, until after 7Pm. When I complained, the senior manager insisted there had NOT been hammering activity in their construction. Simply refused to belive me. Arrogant and rude. And the next morning, at checkout, the plaster removal hammering was happening in the front entrance."

"There are so many blessings waiting for you at the Tembo House, but the A/C was my saving grace 🌞! The pools were clean and inviting. The room was furnished with history and luxury (we stayed in a triple room). The staff were like meeting old friends and being treated like family. Lounging at the beach and watching the Friday night scene was exciting, charming, and safe. The hotel is located in the heart of the Stone Town experience. My family (wife and 2 pre-teen sons) cannot wait to return....

"Hotel with a unique, cool interior. Missing a safe and refrigerator in the room. There was a problem with the water supply in the shower, the water ran out in the middle of the shower. Experienced the same with the faucet in the sink. Also felt there was a bit of visibility into the shower area from the other buildings around."

The staff speaks English and provides concierge service (directions, booking drivers/transportation and excursions). They were all concerned for my well-being and safety. The food at the restaurant was tasty. The pool is clean, warm, and aesthetically pleasing. The beds include a mosquito net to protect you. The air conditioning is nice and cold.
