We had a great time here in this town and the staff was very friendly and accommodating!
On a very scenic fjord Breiddalsvik is a good place to plan a stop on a road trip in eastern Iceland and this hotel is the perfect place to stay: ultra friendly and megahelpful people, a comfortable and clean room, good local food: I shall do my best to come back and perhaps stay for a little bit longer!
We booked the Family Room but were then provided 3 separate rooms which worked out very well for the family.

Worth it!!!
Clean accommodations! There is a brewery right across the street!! I had a little difficulty with the keyless pads but they did work. I walked to the airport and to the lighthouse. The mini market had lots of varieties of foods, children’s toys, and even ice cream.
They forgot to send me the key code. We had to wait outside in the car as it was raining. The hotel, the nearby hotel and restaurant have the same owner. The restaurant staff were very friendly.

No signage for the Hotel Post building so it was confusing pulling up and figuring out where to go. There was also mold in the room which was unpleasant and gave off a moldy smell. The staff was overall friendly.
Nice, quiet, and pretty spacious. The key pad was a little hard to use. Lightly tap, don’t press. Love the self check-in because we got in pretty late. It made it so convenient.
My complaint is the room has a smell mix with bleach initially coming in and the 3 ceiling lights randomly flickered out and then only 1 worked but it was flickering. We ended up just using the 2 small lamps.
Overall still a good experience with the staff in the morning and the bed was very comfy.

Fun place but check-in/communication needs work
Hotel Post is a decent option in an area with limited choices. The hotel is housed in a charming older building and the room was very comfortable. The location is a bit secluded, but it was exactly what we needed after a long drive. Unfortunately, the check-in process was chaotic. I received an email with a code for a room but couldn't find the room in the hotel. After wandering around the outside of the hotel, I found a note on the window with the code to my room and a different room number than what I received in my email. After about 30 minutes of searching with our bags, I was quite annoyed. Once we got the right code and the correct room, everything was smooth, but this experience left a bad impression. It's a decent place to stay in the area, but they need to improve the check-in process and communication.
Got in around midnight but after hours instructions were great. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Left very early but they had a honor bar to purchase drinks and morning snacks for our drive. Regret not having more time to spend here.
This self serve hotel was very pricey for what you get. There was an “old smell” that didn’t go away even with windows open.
The bathroom grout was mildewy, soundproofing was non-existent.
Spend the extra money, and go to the hotel next door if you can. (They’re managed by the same staff).

It would help tremendously to put the trash containers in the bathroom (under the sink), mount the TV on the wall and place the table in the middle of the wall opposite the bed. We had carry-out and had to eat on the bed because the TV was on the table. I noticed an outdoor patio where you could place a hot tub but I bet it’s hard to monitor with no on-site staff.
Problematic check in. The hotel did not send me self check in password and end up the reception is at the another hotel (blue building). The room is basic with nearly no amenities or facilities. Have minimal expectation if you decide to stay here.
We liked the property and our room after we were able to check in.
But we were confused about the building and how to open the door: we were trying to punch the numbers into the keypad next to the door on the wall, not the one on the door handle.
My only complaint was that the front desk for hotel post was located in the hotel next door even though it had a different name. Checking in took 90 minutes and three international phone calls because the instructions were not clear. They offered a free breakfast which I appreciate, but we left too early the next day.
As soon as we drove up to the run down building housing this hotel, we knew we were in for a rough ride. They had promised to send check in information ahead of time, which they failed to do. The hotel next door did help us out, and we got into our room, which was much worse than the pictures online show. There was still hair on the wall in the bathroom from a previous guest, which we complained about and they ungraciously removed.
My wife and son then proceeded to shower and, since there is absolutely nothing that prevents water from the shower reaching the room, the entire room proceeded to flood. We then complained about this, and they blamed us, as if we were the ones who designed an absolutely moronic showering system. We had a terrible night, we didn't all even get to shower, and it luggage got wet as well. The hotel refused any compensation and were generally awful to work with. I strongly recommend you pick another option and avoid this hotel.

Maybe Check Out Another?
The room we got was a bit odd...it's in the red building next to the main Hotel Blafell and on the first floor behind what used to be the front entrance. It didnt look very maintained and there is a common area upstairs with appliances for making your own meals and heating water for coffee or tea. Other than that convenience, I probably would have booked in the main hotel. The main hotel itself seemed cozy but the sauna that was also available for Hotel Post guests was not working or looked like it was derelict. Overall kinda was a confusing experience.
Ruime nette kamer. Eigen badkamer.
