"The Bell Inn was gorgeous it would have received a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for the staffing issues. Housekeeping had failed to turn up that day and they hadn’t realised until nearly checking time so we never got into our room until 5.45. The staff dealt with this delay professionally and we were served with complimentary drinks. This caused us a bit of an issue as we had to leave at 6.15 for a meal elsewhere. If you're staying a night, its facilities are unusually generous and extensive; if you're eating, the menu and the food are great; and if you just want a drink, there's a bar area and plenty of seating outside. The staff are lovely. Plus there's plenty of local information, books, games and events, not to mention a farm shop. If you can tear yourself away, visit Wayland's Smithy a couple of miles away along the Ridgeway."
