This place is a complete dump except that the room was clean. Very old and somewhat dilapidated facility. Very over priced. The info on Expedia and on the web is misleading. Towels and bedsheets are 20 year old hand me downs. Water stinks of sulfur. The Travelodge across the street looks much nicer and is about half the price.
Needed a place to stay on the road to Mount Rushmore and this was perfect since we were getting tired of sharing hotel beds. Service was awesome and if I’m ever in the area I’ll book with them again!
Owner friendly, helpful. had Tv problem, came to fix right away. Electrical plug in by sink not working, told owner. Said he would get on it after we left. Was not a big deal. Would likely stay again. Did suggest replacing pillows. Too soft. Owner also has a very nice dog that likes tummy rubs after it gets to know you.
Our stay at the Cowboy Inn was disappointing. In order to check-in, we had to call a phone number and then wait until the staff members arrived. It took quite a while for them to process my credit card, and get my room key. When I got back to the car my travel companion asked why it took a half-hour to check in. The outside of the property was rather run-down and in need of paint and repairs. The inside of the room was better. However, the only lock on the door was on the door handle, it didn't even have a deadbolt! We shoved a chair under the door handle before we went to sleep.
The room was very clean. It had been repainted and re-carpeted recently. The TV was hard to tune and the channels were a little distorted. The microwave and fridge functioned fine. The a/c unit functioned very well and the temperature was comfortable. The mattress was horrible. It was very hard and there were springs poking my back. My sleep was very disturbed!
It was close to town, wish there was more eating places in town. But a lot of places out side of town just a few miles.. It was a older Motel but clean and well stocked with towels...
Glenda was an accomodating hostess for the property, generously offering very cool bottles of water.
It was nice to have a couple of chairs in the room and the makeup remover cloth was appreciated. However there was no place to hang clothes. And you had to stand on the bed to reach the air cooler controls.
If you can, take some time on the swing and relax.
Met a need and more. Really the only place in town and it was perfect for our family. No hassles, easy to work with.

The room was clean enough for an overnight stay. VERY old and in need of updating but everything worked. VERY limited dining. VERY small town. Nice and quiet.
It was a very dark and dingy room with dark brown shag carpet that did not look clean. There was used soap in the shower and the towels were very thin. The entrance door was all beat up with paint chipping off.
We stayed in a private cabin with our own front porch was really nice. I loved the bathroom, especially the shower. Having a kitchenette with dishes, utensils, stove and dishwasher was so nice. The only downside I have is that the cabins are clustered together and it’s “any available spot” parking. Our cabin was in between two lanes so there was no close by parking. We had to carry our belongings a far distance. So I’d advise calling ahead to make sure you don’t get one of those middle cabins. Also there were steps up to our porch which wouldn’t work for wheelchairs or motorized scooters.
