The Smithy House & Cottages
10/10 Excellent
"We were so impressed with the Smithy House and Cottages. Paul our host couldn't have been more welcoming. The cottages were both immaculate and charming and lacked for nothing. We rented both of them and stayed in and cooked dinner. While we brought our own groceries, everything we needed was in the kitchen. We lit a fire and watched the weather change, the sheep graze, and the birds feed on a feeder right outside the window. We will definitely come back and stay here!"

"We pitched up on a dull afternoon and were delighted with our room. Spacious and with a bathroom with a bath. The chef was sick so we decided having a few options to have some food in the room and enjoy the tv. A nice tray was brought up with soup and cold meats focaccia etc. All very nice in the circumstances."

"This is a must place to stop when in Ullapool. When we arrived we were met with a friendly welcome, with an offer of a tot of whiskey and freshly made short bread. The lounge area is very comfortable with excellent views over the loch and mountains in the distance. Our room was very clean and ideal for our stay, again we had views over the loch. Access to the town was a short walk. The town is lovely with views again over the loch. The beds were comfortable and a good night sleep. The breakfast was very tasty and staff were again so friendly and helpful"

"An ideal stop on the NC500. Friendly welcome (and taken to the room, not just pointed in the right direction), comfortable and well appointed room, spotlessly clean. Good breakfast. We chose to eat elsewhere in the evening, so cannot comment on the dinner."

"The location of this property is lovely but a bit of the beaten track. It does feel like it starting to get a bit tired but also has loads of character. The evening meal was excellent and the breakfast was very good. Did have a wonderful nights sleep."
