"The hotel is ideally located, well maintained and has very helpful staff. The spa is excellent and has a bar accessible directly from it. Breakfast was good and all produce tasted local. The hot tub was secluded with a great view."

"Amazing, the photos do not do it justice, lovely cosy cottage a home from home and fully equipped. Great location, short walk to village incl pubs and chippy, also access to walks (which pass through livestick fields so dogs on leads). Grizedale forest was a short drive away with really good (long & short) walks, better for dogs off leads. "

"Absolutely loved our stay. The hotel is lovely, the spa is amazing, definitely worth booking in for the full spa 3 hours, the food is good but to be honest it’s the staff that make it. Such a lovely bunch!"

"Some of the staff couldn’t do enough for me . But the hotel is greatly over rated. Bathroom I could put my hands on both sides and only about 12 inches between the toilet and the wall. For the money I paid it was not worth it. Sadly I will never go back .better hotels for less In the area. Mr s Murray"

"We love this hotel and its' location. Our main criticism didn't affect our stay, it's just that it is rather tired in places. Everywhere downstairs and the landing was perfect. Our bedroom furniture was very tired and the carpets had some permanent marks. The outside of the property is also very tired, a lot of paint is flaking and the gardens aren't as well maintained as they could be, lots of weeding needing to be done. It is a lovely quirky hotel and it's a shame these things let it down...

"If you really like old style hotel, this is ok. My main complain is bed being too soft and no air condition. The location is ok, but still a bit far away from town center. The breakfast is good. TV is too small."

"Rooms were nice and clean but we had an annoying noise coming from an air vent inside a wardrobe that drove us wild, made them aware and they attempted a bodge to cover it up but it still persisted and spoiled our sleep. The only other complaint is when we were dining a family with young children had been eating beside us and the kids had food on the floor, due to the hot weather there were a lot of flies about and they were congrigating around the food on the floor. "If you book a room with an outside hot tub double check you don’t get the Troutbeck room. The balcony is awful! Firstly, it is overlooked by a loft window above, so limited privacy and able to hear any conversations. On one side of the balcony there is two shipping containers stacked on top of each other, the other side an unkempt wall with a water feature attached. The water feature clearly hadn’t worked for sometime and was full of stagnant water. We raised this issue immediately but nothing...
