"Unfortunately, the experience in MacDonald Craxton Wood was not the best. Starting with our room not being ready for the 3pm check in. Our room then was not the cleanest. The jug of water was also not fresh with the water from the last guest still being in it, lack of plugs in the rooms and the TV was not smart. We then discovered the next day after returning from a busy day out the rooms aren’t serviced unless you request it. Now reception did give us fresh towels when asked but didn’t...

"The hotel staff are good especially reception and the gym but the spa which I was looking forward to it Wasn’t great
You have to pay extra so my husband couldn’t use the facilities even though I had 3 treatments
Which were not great the therapists are only just out of training yet they charge full price
I must admit I was lucky with my facial which was excellent
But the whole spa experience is not worth the money"

"Spa was wonderful. Room was small but adequate.
This is an old industrial building that has been converted. This has pros and cons. The pros are that it is atmospheric. The cons are that it lacks modern amenities such as air con. But overall - very good value and I would stay again."

"We used to stay here many years back when visiting relatives in the area. Now it has turned into a Spa Resort, great for those who like and want to be pampered, no problems there, but we did find the restaurants evening menu is now very restricted for choice., plus there was always cold blasts of air, making it very uncomfortable to dine. Back in the day the then Ostler restaurant was far superior"

"I stayed here with colleagues whilst attending a corporate golf day. Whilst we ate in the Clubhouse at the organisd BBQ, the food was extremely well prepared and tasted good.
The hotel rooms were very clean, fairly spacious with adaquate refreshments on offer.
I've stayed here several times and the price reflect the standard of what you get."

"This is a lovely property with a gym swimming pool sauna and steam room. Big rooms with polite respectful staff. Highly recommended 5*****"
