Not so cheap and cheerful

On the positive side, the staff were efficient, polite and friendly. If you like Indian sub-continent food, the independently run resturant is ok, the food being spicy but with too much sauce/gravy for my taste. The WiFi was ok. Less positively, there were only three (France 24, CNN and Al Jazeera) English language news channels. The hotel, probably for reasons of the owner's/manager's religious beliefs was teetotal; while this is not a problem, it should be advertised. Cleanliness was a challenge - I saw two small cockroaches so there were definitely many more and breeding. The area was characterised by very small shops, unpaved roads (so dusty) and noise. The bed was hard and the pillows lumpy.

The hotel is clean and a few steps away from a mall with good supermarket. Taxi stands and main road are just there downstairs. Staff are very friendly and way better than any hotel I stayed at recently they are extremely respectful and caring. Great value for money.

Great value in the city centre

The Iris Hotel is located in the city centre in an area that is both local and central - to the city, to the Zanzibar ferry and convenient (enough) for the airport. Expectations should be pitched at the price - true it's a little rough around the edges but the staff are very friendly and helpful. It's safe but usual precautions apply. The breakfast is adequate and is served in a comfortable and very clean dining room. Bedrooms have cable TV (if that's important to you), AC and a fan. WiFi only works in public areas but the signal there is strong. I'd have no hesitations recommending this hotel if you're looking for a central, clean and value-for-money hotel

Cheap stay in Dar es Salaam. The hotel is located in Kariakoo so-called a busy place, but convenient surroundings with a supermarket "citymall" and nice local restaurants as well. I was satisfied with my staying at this place.

We arrived to Dar at 3:00 a.m. But Hotel provided for hotel shuttle, really apreciate. Medium hotel, clean with nice staff, but facilities has to be improve, as well bathrooms.

Stolen money from the room. Do not stay.

We got stolen $400 USD from our room, and the hotel doesn't want to take responsibility for it. We were one gone for only 2 hours and the door was locked. Staff steals there. Will never stay again and will not recommend.

Better off hanging at the airport

Very spartan by any standard. No blankets or towels given. Bed like sleeping on a door with sheets. Was so uncomfortable I did not sleep anyway. Should have just stayed at the airport.... would have gotten more sleep.

Excellent Budget Option

Really comfortable room in a really nice place with friendly, warm staff. Best budget option I have experienced in Dar Es Salaam, and was much better quality than I was expecting. Food places close by as well.

Nice experience

I arrived late and spent one night at Livingstone hotel together with my boyfriend from Zanzibar, who arrived earlier. The room was totally perfect for the night. Cute and clean, and the breakfast the day after was alright to. I will most likely stay there again.

Goed budget hotel!

Mijn bagage was kwijt geraakt tijdens mijn vlucht. Hotel heeft mij hier heel goed mee geholpen om te zorgen dat ik dit zo snel mogelijk terug kreeg. Personeel is zeer vriendelijk. Kamers zijn schoon en ruim. De ligging is midden in het hectische centrum. Heel dichtbij de kariakoo markt!

Service är det inget fel på då vi kom fick vi ett rum ut mot bakgården utan en välfungerande dush men detta rättades snart till av managern, så vi fick ett bekvämt rum med fungerande inredning samt balkong. Dock är jag något besviken på frukosten, då jag gärna skulle se ett något fylligare utbud, för det priset som dom tar per rum,, och ja jag kommer förmodligen att åka dit igen.. HAKUNA MATATA

la stanza risulta spartana e pulita. la posizione è comoda da raggiungere anche se l'area nei dintorni è poco attraente. abbiamo avuto discussioni col personale di agenzie di viaggio che ci hanno minacciato verbalmente e messo le mani addosso all'interno della hall. Da parte della reception non c'è stato nessun aiuto e nessun interesse a sedare gli animi. totalmente disinteressati e distanti dalla situazione. vergognoso. Pessima figura da parte dell hotel. The room is spartan but clean. The position is convenient even if the area around it is unattractive. we had discussion with the travel agencies staff who have verbally threatened and put their hands on us in the lobby . By the reception there was no help and no interest to calm tempers . Totally disinterested and distant from the situation. shameful . Not raccomandable

Very short stay

We stayed at F10 on two occasions; initially for 2 nights (twin room), then for a single night (double room/bed) ten days later. The room we had on our second visit was significantly nicer than the initial room, despite both on the same floor, 3 doors apart from each other. I would recommend booking a double room in opposed to a twin room. Though the furniture in the room looks rather tired and worn, the room was very clean and tidy, with A/C, a fridge and television. We did see a cockroach on our second arrival but it was a single incident and it is difficult not to encounter bugs while in Africa. The staff were soooooo helpful and made our stay really comfortable. The hotel is located in a clutter of side roads so expect to get lost in the local area if travelling on foot. The local area has everything you'd need from internet cafes, to big markets - the location is very good.
