Shaker Village is such an interesting, beautiful and peaceful place. The history of the buildings and the area appeals to us. It’s a great place to walk and enjoy the surroundings. The rooms are adequate and not at all fancy. The shaker pegs provide plenty of places to hang things. We appreciated the night light in our bathroom. The restaurant had an interesting menu and the quality of the food was good.

A lovely place to stay, very clean, with a variety of activities and things to do on the premises. It was an incredible experience to stay in a room and be part of history. Very clean, with horseback riding, ponds, and other animals to see. The staff was extremely friendly, and the facility was spotless.

The Grounds are beautiful and we had a wonderful breakfast and dinner at Trustees. However, our room in the West House was musty and damp. The staff tried to rectify the problem with new linens and fans to dry out the room. I would research the building you plan to stay in before you go.

It is a very lovely property with rolling hills, a lot of interesting buildings, delicious food at onsite restaurant, and multiple activities of museums, trails, horse riding, etc. I was there as a place to sleep when I wasn’t at the annual Brandywine Hobbit festival that was at the Terrapin Hill Farm about 20 minutes away (although most of the 1000 Hobbits camped.) Therefore, I didn’t partake of most of what they had to offer. The downsides to me were that the signage for various buildings was lacking. You might stay in building 6, the Brethren building, and while they provide one with a map, unless one is at the building to read the small sign (no number) I found it difficult to find specific things without asking. The restaurant I found to be on a higher price scale, especially the cocktails. Not outrageous, just a tad high to what I am accustomed to. Others might find it cheap. They have cool, couple spiral staircases in the restaurant leading up to guest rooms. From the Hobbit event, my old legs were already tired, so walking the hills there were an issue for me. I would definitely stay there again.

The property itself is gorgeous and a great place to spend the day with family. To stay overnight, I wouldn’t say it’s the most family friendly. We were in a 2 room suite with a steep staircase in the middle of the room. The One room with a twin bed didn’t have a door, so we ended up having to have all of us in one room to ensure our toddler didn’t run out and down the steep staircase at night. The homes are older and don’t do much to help with noise, sorry to guests below. Surprised how well the AC worked on the 3rd floor. Unique history, cute shops and restaurant.
