What a wonderful stop on our trip! The property was beautiful and Edele and Alessio were so attentive to our needs. We had a seven course tasting menu and breakfast prepared by Sonia Russell and Louise Hynes. The food at both meals was so delicious and there was so much attention to detail. One dish, the pea and mint soup, brought tears to my wife’s eyes. The house and rooms were beautifully decorated and we were very comfortable. We cannot say enough about The Blackwell House. We will definitely return!

We had the most wonderful stay at Blackwell House in Scarva! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome — nothing was too much trouble. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, full of charm and character, with every little detail thought of to make guests feel at home. The food was incredible (and plentiful!) and the rooms were spotless, cosy, and luxurious all at once. It’s one of those rare places where you can truly switch off and relax, and yet still feel utterly spoiled. A huge thank you to the hosts, whose warmth and hospitality made our stay so special — we honestly didn’t want to leave. We’ll definitely be back!

You ever went somewhere and felt like, this is home? That’s what this stay was. If you want the most luxurious, cozy, taken care of, delicious space. Book this place. I wish I would have stayed here the entire time I was in Ireland. I didn’t want to leave the home at all. The food is absolutely exquisite, music is perfect and the owners are just the most wonderful hosts I’ve ever met. I’ve made small changes in my own home since I’ve returned to live more like I did when I stayed there. Thank you all and see you in September!

A little gem!

I don’t normally leave reviews, but it feels wrong not to ensure that people realise how wonderful this place is. The attention to detail from the minute we arrived was second to none. Everything was faultless, the service, the food, the ambience, the friendly pets. Being vegan I’m used to mediocre meals from many places but Blackwell House don’t do mediocre - the menu was incredible, the food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Breakfast was probably the best we’ve had ever, and was an experience in itself. We stayed in the Charleston room, and everything about it was luxury. We will absolutely be back again. Joyce, Steve & team have created something stunning and their passion and love for what they do is evident at all times. Thank you so much!

I can’t recommend this place enough. It is an absolute gem and a real getaway from the hustle and bustle of busy life. We were treated like absolute royalty. I don’t think I have experienced anywhere else that I felt so well looked after. Steve and Joyce are both very passionate and have put a huge amount of work into their boutique hotel. The rooms are stunning and so so comfortable. Nothing was missed and it is clear that there is attention to details with all the little touches. The place is very quiet and so relaxing. The food was exquisite and so well put together. I would recommend booking in for the 5 course meal it is worth it !! The grounds were beautifully kept and so well designed. Murphy was an outstanding canine host and we also got the pleasure of meeting Maggie, Molly and Oscar (friendly felines).We enjoyed our stay from start to finish and can’t wait to come back!

The owner Joyce was fabulous. She was very accomodating in every way. She made a dinner recommendation for us and made the reservation. The house was beautiful, the room and bed very comfortable. The breakfast was gourmet! It felt like a retreat with the beautiful flowers and garden. I would recommend the Blackwell House highly! Can't wait to stay when I go back to Ireland.
