Coopers creek is a National wildlife Management area. It offers a campground and campsites along its 10 miles road that connects Blairsville with the west side of the Georgian appalachian mountains. Cooper Creek travels alongside the road the entire way. It is great for trout fishing.

You know, few places are like the smoky mountains. Deep in the forest you will not find beautiful expansive vistas. You may walk through it and say to yourself, not as beautiful as the rockies or Alps. But, if you let yourself just experience this place you will find a calmness and sense of wonderment you can not find anywhere else. I found that here. I climbed down an embankment and walked up the stream, set up my camera and just sat on a rock while the rain came down all around me. I was under a giant mountain laurel protected from the rain, but still able to hear it. The smell of earth all around me, the sounds of from the cascade of water in front and rain all around. I honestly wish I could capture the experience with more than just a photo. I took the photo, but the experience is what will stay with me. I challenge you to find a place like this, sit there not thinking about anything except where you are and take it all in. Everything.
