  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. The staff here are great; very helpful and accommodating when need be. I have stayed here numerous times and will again. Yes the hotel is dated and some parts are a little run down, but it’s plenty passable and a comfortable stay. Great price as well.

I travel often, and this hotel stood out! The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all necessities. The staff was extremely courteous and ensured my stay was hassle-free. Definitely one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at!

The hotel was absolutely disgusting and dirty. It wreaked of marijuana and cigarettes. The hallways were gross. The walls were smeared with random things. The staff was nice and understanding when we decided to go to a different hotel

No issues, property is dated and so are the rooms, had a minor hole in the wall in my room, but overall for a quick stay you can’t really beat this place for the price. Convenient location, friendly staff, the room was clean enough for me. No real issues, I’ve stayed before and will stay again.

Upgrade from the Buckeye…

Our room could have used a deep cleaning, but the bed was very comfy. Sheets were clean. No remote for tv, when given a universal it needed to be programmed which we never did get to work. It was definitely an upgrade from across the street but certainly could be worked on to be nicer.

I reserved the room with the hot tub and I was pleasantly surprised. The room was big and it was extremely clean. I even bought my own hospital issued disinfecting wipes and there wasn't any dirt anywhere that I wiped and believe you me I wiped everywhere in this room

It is in a crappy area of town, run down, there's a homeless camp next to it, where they burned down the wooden fence to the hotels parking lot. breakfast was bare minimum, cereal, 1 gallon of milk, a loaf of bread, a few packs of oatmeal, and a few bagels. Nothing to put on the bread or bagels, no juice or water. The room could have been cleaner but not bad. On a positive note the bed was comfy.

The room my son and I stayed in seemed clean when it came to the bathroom and the bed to sleep in. However, it was horribly unkept. Our shower/tub was cracked, toilet paper was stuffed down the sink so it clogged up, there was a huge hole in the wall and I could stare into the inside of the wall, it was extremely dusty and hangers weren’t put away. I will never stay here again. This place need remodeling badly!!!

Hotel is in terrible shape. We were able to be given a room that doesn’t smell of cigarette smoke even though it’s a no smoking hotel. There were many many cigarette burns in the carpet of our room and even some on the mattress. The desk attendants were very friendly but just shrugged and said people still smoke on the rooms. Kind of like “ what can we do about it?”

I didn't like the hotel because drugs addicts hangs out there, its not a safe place for families to stay, the linens in the rooms weren't changed, and room were very dirty!

The staff were fine and the linens surprisingly comfortable. The physical building was dirty and had holes in the walls. Like, anything fabric was great, but anything made of different material was sketchy. Heater worked well, and had no problems with the plumbing except that it was on the slower side. Feels like an older property in need of a remodel. Also the sign was not lit at night which made it hard to find.

This is a gross neighborhood and this hotel has a fair number of “long term” renters. Did not feel safe. Lot of people wandering the halls. Very transient vibe. Do not recommend.

Well since I knew where this hotel was, I did not have very high expectations. But it was worse than I thought. They had not towels or wash clothes. When I asked for a towel they said they had no clean ones and to check back in the morning. Also the so called bold coffee was just water with a little bit of coffee in it. And breakfast was nothing to write home about. Only cereal. Staff was friendly and security was present. So that was a good thing.

Breakfast was only from 7:30-8:30. Refrigerator in breakfast area was warm, and milk inside was warm. There was cereal, but couldn’t eat it with with milk. Waffle machine was broken. Some packaged breakfast pastries. Signs indicated that there would be ‘consequences’ if any food left the area. In the room, the refrigerator was broken, as was the cabinet door where the refrigerator was stored. Ice machine was broken as well. Beds were comfortable and appeared clean. Would not recommend or stay here again.

The property was falling apart. Dirt dripping down the walls, stains and holes everywhere, the pool was "drained and closed for the season" but that was never disclosed in their advertising on their website or the booking site, and they didn't even notify us when we were checking in, the "free continental breakfast" was a complete joke. Nothing available but an expired cartoon of milk, a couple packages of old muffins, no batter for the waffle makers, no other drinks, just nothing available, breakfast was stated to be available from 7 am to 9 am and there was nothing available at all during that time, they required a security deposit on top of the actual payment that was not listed on the booking site, their website, or my reciept... So I don't think I'll even get that back like I should. I SHOULD be getting a FULL REFUND. Only gave 2 thin pillows for a king bed and thin sheets, the heater in the room looked like it would or has caught fire, no exhaust in the bathroom, so there was mold growing in the bathroom too ... this place was ridiculous and should be SHUT DOWN!!! On the other side of the fence behind where we had to park was a camp of unhoused individuals. Do not stay here.

Miserable stay at Norwood Inn & "Suites".

The entire building is digusting. Even in the lobby is smells of cigarette and weed smoke and just hovering dirty smell. All the amenities advertised are broken/out of service. The pool, the gym area, giest laundry room. The rooms themselves are equally disheveled. My first room had a completly broken A/c unit, disgusting carpet, 1 of the lamps barely worked, 4 of the outlets were damaged; with even one behind the bed having some metal jammed inside the outlet, the dresser was damaged and missing 6/7 of its drawers. On top of that the whole just stunk of a slight body odor smell. The only thing ok was the bedding and the towels. I asked to leave early so the man at the desk moved me to a second room on the 2nd floor, it wasnt better. Carpet still just as dirty and stinking, hallway stinking just the same, A/C just as broken apart, dresser still damaged and falling apart, but this time it had a massive liquid stain. The chair paired with the table in this new room was dirty, tattered, and stained. Not even the bedding was completely clean in this room. There was a stain in the corner of the sheet and somekind of fluid stain on one of the pillowcases. Overall this hotel is not cared for at all.
