  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. Definitely recommend staying at this hotel. Check in was quick and easy, lobby was beautiful, complimentary coffee and infused water was a great touch. We had a king room and the bed was very comfortable and we liked that the heat and air was a wall controlled thermostat. We will definitel book this hotel specifically when in the area.

Great rooms, staff, very clean. Shout out to the amazing, friendly, hard working, kind gentleman working service during breakfast. My parents stay here every time they visit. It is always clean and the staff are great. I would recommend this hotel if you want to be treated like a true guest.

I liked the room, the super friendly, attentive and respectful staff.. That I didn't like: •Advertising is deceiving, many sancudos, inappropriate smells, a lot of dust in the rooms.. In the advertisement he mentioned the use of the pool and it doesn't have anything. Much neglect to the property

We went from a terrible hotel to one that was slightly better. Sadly it appears all the hotels in Columbus are trashy and in awful condition so its choosing from the worst options. I walked into 6 different hotels and they were all absolutely disgusting. At least the staff was nice at this one and it felt safe enough to stay at. Would I recommend it... Never unless you just need a place to sleep for the night. Bathroom was awful the gap in the door you could almost fit a small rodent through.... overall not the best but the staff was incredibly nice.

Ok for an extended stay. Worked for me due to location. It does show its age and a makeover is due. Plus, Covid is behind us. Open your pool and go back to full-service breakfast

The website pictures are very outdated. There is no pool, there are people hanging around the parking lot. No safe place to walk dogs. Landscaping not taken care of. Didn’t spend one night there. I need to be refunded money I did give the hotel for false advertisement!

The staff I encountered were friendly and efficient. The property was likely fantastic when newer but is pretty worn out now. Coffee maker worked fine. Refrigerator and freezer were cold. There was a fireplace but I didn’t even investigate to see if it was functional. The bed was made up nicely and clean. Sufficient consumables we’re on hand -to, soap, shampoo, etc. the room had a unusual aroma that became unnoticeable after awhile. I would actually stay here again due to the convenient location and staff, but I wouldn’t bring my family as they wouldn’t overlook the shortcomings.

the customer service was good, especially Tasha who checked us in...not so sure on the housekeeping because it didn't seem like they vacuumed or cleaned anything. We stayed for 4 nights and did make a small mess that needed vacuuming but the mess remained with us the whole stay. We made our own beds and housekeeping didn't remake them. The room was very subpar. The kitchen was stocked with a cutting board, a small serrated knife, one spoon, two forks, 2 butter knives. Some pots. No pans. No other dishes. There was very sad looking coffee maker. The cupboards and drawers were very dingy and dirty. The microwave looked like it could explode while in use. It was very very dirty inside with a chunk missing...how, Idk. The stove was nice...induction stove. The beds and bedding were comfortable. The pillows were a bit lumpy but didn't give us any neck problems. The bathtub drain worked only if you held down the little knob. The knob to turn water on and off was so difficult to pull out. I could've sworn the whole thing was gonna get pulled out from the wall. There was also no hairdryer. I had to go ask for one at the front desk. My biggest complaint is the carpet. This poor carpet was so dirty and nasty. My feet got so dirty from walking on it in just one evening. The next day I went and bought house slippers to wear for the rest of the stay. I did not take them off accept for to shower and to go to bed. I don't know what the other rooms are like but I don't want to know.

Hot water tank was out. We experienced cold water the entire stay. We was promised to be full accommodated our next stay. I tried calling to book my accommodation and I was told that there were no notes from front about the accommodation that was offered due to my experience

Although there was a full kitchen, there were no pots or pans, no silverware, no dishes and none available at the office, they said they were all stolen. There were roaches in room and in the microwave. The bathroom was old and outdated. The toilet was loose. Had I not prepaid with a gift card I would have left and debated my money back. I’ve stated extended stay breakfast before it had very good experiences. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a hotel.
