"The property in a beautiful ancient coaching inn. The pub downstairs is friendly, the food and drinks are like any Greene King pub so it's well priced and good. Breakfast is cheaper if bought on the room. There is a choice of buffet or buffet+hot. Both are nice. Inevitably the property shows some signs of age. Definitely ready for some paint touch up. "Booked twin bedded room. Allocated room 35. Room had recently been refurbished. Excellent. Despite a wedding being held there it was quiet and restful. Self service cooked breakfast in morning was very good and staff were constantly on hand to top up on anything. Good choice of different foods. Would stay again in room 35 and any other refurbished rooms. Cannot judge any other rooms. Staff were helpful, attentive and friendly. After letting the team know about our special dietary requirements (gluten-free), the manager was outstanding in ensuring we were fully accommodated — to the point that the service surpassed what I’ve experienced in some so-called 5-star hotels.
