Leonardo Hotel Chester
6/10 Okay
"The hotel is excellent for location. Right in the city centre. Parking in East gate shopping centre next door which is discounted to ten pounds per 24 hours. Good room amenities. Excellent powerful shower. Iron and board. Hairdryer. Safe and fridge although hidden away and we didn't find until we were leaving. Good Air Con. Comfortable breakfast. We didn't like or rate the room itself. Small and cramped. There is no ability to open a window at all. This means zero air flow and a stale atmosphere in the air. Made worse by the bathroom heat which again had no extractor fan which means the bathroom was constantly steamed up. The bed was small. About as small as you could get away with. It also moved around which was annoying. The relative smallness of the bed exacerbated how small the floor space is as it was still cramped. At £130 a night not value for money. We were glad to escape it's confines. Breakfast choice was average. Limited fruit options. Okay but no wow factor. Summed up the whole place really. Great location but just somewhere to stay but the room was not pleasant "

Moxy Chester
4/10 Poor
"Dear Moxy Chester Management, I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding our recent stay at Moxy Chester, which was unfortunately quite disappointing and uncomfortable. We have stayed at other Moxy hotels on multiple occasions and have always had positive experiences, which makes this stay particularly disappointing. The first issue related to the room temperature on our first night. At approximately 10pm, our room temperature was reading 23 degrees and would not reduce despite us trying every available setting and adjustment. We initially attempted to tolerate the heat and went to sleep hoping the temperature would improve overnight. However, we woke up around 1am due to the excessive heat in the room, which genuinely felt like a sauna. We went downstairs and reported this to reception during the night at 1am, and the receptionist kindly provided us with an alternative room. Unfortunately, the replacement room was also excessively hot at approximately 22.5 degrees. At that stage, we had no realistic option other than to return to our original room and attempt to sleep there. We raised the matter again the following morning, and reception checked other rooms, however the temperatures throughout appeared to remain between 22 and 23 degrees. This was highly uncomfortable and unacceptable, particularly as we were travelling with our dog. The room was far too hot for both guests and pets to remain in comfortably overnight. We were left dehydrated, and with dry ski"

"GREAT STAY AS ALWAYS"

Crabwall Manor Hotel & Spa
4/10 Poor
"The swimming pool is out of order at the moment. was not notified of this when booking only a couple of days before I arrived. I was allocated room 56. Make sure you don’t get this room unless there is a heatwave. It was so cold that I had to ask to be moved during the night. The radiator does not appear to work in the room. I stayed for 3 nights, two of which had road closures outside the hotel . On the Sunday the road was closed from 7 am to 1 pm so could not leave unless you walked - and this hotel is some way out of the centre of Chester. Again I was not notified when booking. Staff ( other than the night porter and staff at breakfast) seemed entirely disinterested. No one actually apologised. I was offered another stay in the future, free of charge, but quite frankly I have no intention of ever returning"
