"The staff are lovely. The room OK I didn't rate the bathroom the tiles had a lot of mold on and the cold tap on the bath was so difficult to turn off the door on the bathroom stopped at the toilet so you had to go in sideways. Even though I didn't rate the bathroom I would still stay at the hotel again just not that room. I did mention the bathroom on checkout ."

"Exceptionally enjoyable stay Although due to close for renovation in 2-3 weeks it retained its opulence and the bar and restaurant were superb The hotel is perfectly placed to explore Chester and access relatively inexpensive public transport to nearby places such as Port Sunlight and Liverpool which are short distances away Only down side was initial information about dress code in restaurant. It was way below what we were advised. We had no problem with that, but would have packed maybe 6-8 garments less between us Finally, and most important, given the up coming 2 year closure the staff there were absolutely magnificently helpful and friendly. Special mention to Jo (GI Jo), Kevin, Harriet and many others whose names I don’t have but definitely including the excellent sommelier"

"Everything was clean and comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and because I was veggie I was offered perfectly poached eggs and hot porridge. If I needed to stay in Chester again I would stay here again. Just sad I could t make use of the facilities"

"Fabulous from start to finish, room was ready so we got an early check in. Lovely breakfast made to order but the stars were the staff, without exception everyone was welcoming and keen to help, I’ve never observed such amazing teamwork. Hotel is ideally situated for the station and a short walk into town. Would recommend."
