Top Chester Hotel Reviews

The Pied Bull
10/10 Excellent
"Great, characterful hotel/pub. Breakfasts were excellent and the staff were great. The room itself fine but in a slant. We had to sleep with our head the opposite end of the extremely creaky bed. The shower head was also very low. At 6’, I had to really duck under it. But part of the charm I guess, just could have done with a non creaky bed."

Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel
8/10 Good
"The room was nice and clean. Bed was comfy and lots of lovely pillows. Good bathroom only small but perfectly fine. If this was a compact room it wasn't that small really and a huge TV. My only complaint would be the lift could not be used for customers. Luckily I only had a small case otherwise I would have struggled. The pool itself was lovely and warm. But the changing rooms really need updating. Quite smelly and dirty. Overall quite good value with the use of the pool. And the park and ride is extremely convenient"

"We stayed here for one night whilst visiting Chester. Although, not directly in the centre, it is only a lovely 15 minute walk along the canal to get there. The hotel is modern, with reception located at the bar. The atmosphere was lively and you also get a complimentary drink voucher on check in. A nice touch. We used these later and you can get either an alcoholic cocktail or a non alcoholic cocktail. Those are the options. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean. They are not the biggest and more space would have been nice if we were staying for longer, but for one night, it was perfectly adequate. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom, although on the small side was practical. We didn’t eat at the hotel, but had our free drink which was very tasty. There was no wow factor with this hotel, so if you’re looking for luxury, or extravagance then this isn’t it. It’s functional, practical and ideal for a one night stay. We paid £114 during Easter weekend. Good value in my opinion. I would rate this hotel as follows: First impression - 6 Comfort - 7.5 Room - 7.5 Food - N/A Value - 8.5"

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Spa Chester
6/10 Okay
"A hotel that has been carefully planned. Great location and layout, with good onsite facilities - the gym and spa are rightfully busy. However I was surprised to have no housekeeping visit to make up my room on the first day and a very unhelpful person to talk to when I called at 3.45 pm on the second day asking when my room might be made up. The answer was that they were behind with ‘stayers’ because they had a lot of people checking out. No apology and lots of silence on the phone. I was left feeling that it was my fault… Once a member of housekeeping services arrive half an hour later, she said she’d only need 5 minutes - and she did a great job. Not a character experience."

"Checked in and staff were lovely and very helpful Later in the evening we decided to try the roof top bar, unfortunately more training is needed for the bar tenders as the cocktails had to be remade due to them not being made right, and even on the second attempt still not right but more palatable. One set of towels in the bath room rang reception to be told have you checked the wardrobe, Yes.. did you look in the black bag…… No. Why you would put clean towels in a black bag in the wardrobe is very strange you are more lividly to put dirty towels in a black bag than clean, never see any hotel do this before. Breakfast 🙃 well continental breakfast is what is advertised which is over sold and under delivered… all you get on the continental is three different cereals limited fruit and tea and coffee You were then allowed to choose one item from light bites so if you chose the porridge you then could have toast or pastries with out paying another £5.00. You were allowed one glass of juice I asked for cranberry off the menu told there was none so opted for a different one then 10 minutes later a guest on the opposite table ordered cranberry and was served cranberry. You could then order at an additional £10.00 cooked breakfast but no one came to see if we wanted, the napkin and cutlery were dirty on the table also It is a shame as the hotel has so much potential, staff were doing the best they could but definitely not with the money. This hotel group is now a miss for us.."

"First room dirty, moved and other room better but not perfect. Staff solved problem well. Shame, nice hotel let down by not keeping on top of housekeeping across hotel and room decor weird. Bathroom was worse, lots of mouldy crevices in bathroom."

Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa
10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful place in a lovely part of the world. Lakes and ponds with gardens. On-site spa with its own peace gardens with loungers (and waterfall!). The spa is worth a visit alone. Nice room, nice catering (we were at a wedding held onsite). Room had great air on/heating and good brew facilities. The shower and bath was epic for the price we paid. Will absolutely return. Only downside was checking in. I was not acknowledged, so began checking myself in electronically- then I was acknowledged - when I was already half way through. There were no other customers around."
