"Reasonable price, good amount of secure underground parking albeit this costs £20 extra which I thought was a bit too steep. The hotel has easy and quick access to the centre of Chester, the race course or to get back out to the motorways. The room and bathroom were large with air con. They were clean, comfy and well equipped. The shower was nice and powerful. The bar/restaurant itself is on the top floor with lovely views and balcony, nice staff and food. My suggestion to the hotel is to have plug sockets near the beds so I can charge my phone and use it more easily as an alarm."

"Cold food at dinner and when the replacement came the fish was actually raw in the middle. Even though I ate none of it and the polite server told me that it would be deducted from my bill, it wasn't and the receptionist had to go and ask permission to take it off the bill on checkout. It was embarrassing. We ate out of the hotel the following night. Also the rules have changed so pool entry is prohibited once you have checked out of your room. All staff used to be wonderful and some remain in this vain but some really cannot be bothered and one was rude. The place remains very clean and is a credit to housekeeping team. A disappointing stay after previous good experiences."

"I’ve stayed here twice and the reviews would be the same. Lovely building, nice spacious rooms with comfy bed, friendly staff, good amenities. The reasons that stop this hotel getting an excellent rating are: Each time I sat in the outside terrace area most tables were full of dirty dishes and glasses. There are not enough signs around the hotel to guide you. I went to wrong room to eat dinner and breakfast. I opened a store cupboard as it was next to the corridor entry door. The food at dinner took too long to arrive and needs some help with presentation. I ordered the fish cake that looked and tasted just like a supermarket option. It was overpriced."
