The property is beautiful and spotless. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The resort itself is large and convenient, with bars, restaurants, a store, coffee shop, ice cream, and even a club all in one place. The pools are great and the views are stunning, but the beach was a major letdown. We understand it was seaweed season, but there was no visible effort to clean it. We visited Isla Mujeres and the beaches there were gorgeous in comparison.
At first, we were given a room on the north side, but the smell was like seaweed and sewage which was unbearable, even inside. We switched to the south side the next day, and it made a huge difference. Also, not all pools are accessible. Those with in-pool bars require a special wristband. Poolside drink service was extremely slow, sometimes taking over 30 minutes. The buffet is basic, and anything made to order like omelets or crepes had long lines.
Overall, it’s a beautiful resort, and with some improvements, it could easily be a 10. But based on our full experience, it’s more of a 6
