"Best hotel we've stayed in in Australia. Lovely 1920s building, helpful staff, attractive bar, good location for many sites and on a number of bus routes (Canberra is not a very pedestrian-friendly city). Only quibble would be that, as one of the, possibly the, leading hotel(s) in the Commonwealth capital, a wider selection of Australian wines, and notably some from the smaller wine regions (for example, Beechworth, VIC) could be available."

"Pleasant reception staff on arrival. Room a good size and had a great view over the lake. Would stay there again if in the area. My pet peeve is where the range of pump soap/conditioner etc are mounted in poor locations. It was difficult for me to use the soap dispenser beside the hand basin as it had been installed against the frame of the mirror. It was no deal breaker, just a peeve!"

"A top notch experience for our four night stay in a one bedroom apt at East Hotel in Canberra. Underground parking was a key consideration for our stay and it worked well ($20 a night). Very pleasant and helpful staff and a great restaurant (Italian) downstairs where we had both breakfast and dinner a couple of times. Fast wifi.
