The place feels like a hostel. Everything is dated and not nearly as nice as they make it look in the pictures. First night had no hot water to shower but it was fixed next day. Very noisy at night even on higher floors. Bed is also not very comfy, old spring mattress is very bouncy and rough. Don't come here with high expectations.... It's okay if you're on a tight budget and need a place to crash

Awesome Hotel

If you are wanting to be in a tourist spot that has everything close by, I definitely recommend to stay at this hotel. Not only does it have a lot of shops around and a lot to see but also very clean rooms, with an amazing staff that will help you.

The hotel was very comfortable and met all of our needs. I would suggest they add some hooks in the bathroom as storage is very minimal. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel room was spacious and bright and in a great location. The room was clean, however the beds were not the most comfortable and there were no hand towels. When we asked for a hand towel we were given a tub mat. The breakfast was ok but one morning we arrived at 9am (breakfast was to be till 9:30) and we were told there was no more fruit or juice. When we suggested substitutes for other items on the menu we were told it would be an extra charge. We had requested an early check in prior to arrival and were never told about the extra charge. It was also very difficult to communicate with the reception staff who spoke no English at all. This property was listed as a VIP access so it was quite disappointing when it did not meet expectations.

The customer service at the hotel is great and accommodating. The hotel is located in a safe area with very walkable coffee shops and restaurants within the same street. I didn't like how there was no gym at the hotel or even a lobby bar. The hotel is very small therefore the lobby area is tiny. I didn't eat at the restaurant attached to the hotel so I can't speak on that aspect. The room was decent sized. It didnt have an iron or ironing board/steamer so you have to call and ask. Also the shower looked a bit outdated and so did the room. The photos are definitely nicer looking than the actual room. Overall, not bad, decent for the price but I don't think i would return.

We went on a Friday and Saturday night. Friday there is a nightclub, not sure if it's in the hotel or next to it, but there was no rest that night with the walls pounding from the music, Saturday night was a little less noisy but still inconvenient. We all ended up with bed bug bites. Room was large and roomy, AC was cold.

I can't say enough about how great things about this hotel property is. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and goes over and beyond to accommodate hotel guests' needs. Without hesitation, when visiting Cali, this is the best place to stay.

Excellent location in Cali

This a not a luxurious hotel, you will not get fancy toiletries nor fluffy towels, but what you do get is an excellent location and value. My room was big and comfortable, very clean, the bathroom had a great shower and the bed was very nice and comfy. There are many very good restaurants just steps away and everything else in Cali is just a short Uber ride away. The only drawback is that you do hear (at least in my room) street sounds, which did not bother me.

Stayed at the Hotel el Penon for two nights. Checkin was quick and easy and desk staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very big, clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the rain shower head and the comfortable full size beds. Free Netflix was also a nice addition as I was able to watch TV in English after a long day of wondering around the city. The breakfast was good as well. It was offered in the adjacent restaurant and offered all selections but 2 from the menu. The French Toast was excellent. Very pleased with the hotel and would definitely state there again.
