The hotel is good, but the room I got was really noisy, don't know if it was an animal or just a tree branch hitting the roof at night but we couldn't sleep. Besides that, the hotel is nice, room is huge, pool is refreshing and breakfast is great!

My family and I stayed one night on the way to San Jose. Check in was fine as well as wifi. AC was loud. It sounded like a washing machine but the room was still hot. Not sure about other rooms but we stayed in room #7. Breakfast was decent. Overall, the property is pretty with a lot trees.

My stay at Bambutel was okay overall. The hotel is accessed by about 1 km of dirt road, which was quite bumpy and something to keep in mind if you're driving. Check-in was quick and straightforward, although the welcome wasn't especially warm. The room was simple and basic but clean, which I appreciated. During my stay, there was a storm and some water leaked into the bathroom. The staff offered to move me to another room, but I declined since the leak wasn't a major issue for me. The toilet also became clogged, and they responded promptly to fix it, which I appreciated. Breakfast was very basic and could definitely be improved with more variety and better options. On the positive side, the small swimming pool was very nice and a pleasant place to relax. Overall, Bambutel offers clean, basic accommodations with responsive staff, but there is room for improvement, particularly with the breakfast and the road access.

The staff and amenities were very good. It is not a lush place, but a good value for your dollar. We were comfortable and enjoyed the pool, free breakfast, and kitchen utensils at our disposal. Would definitely stay here again.

This property was great secluded enough, but just down the road from all the nightlife in scenery and beaches! Staff was great. Rooms were spread apart. Pool is just enough for a knife. Nice refresher.

Property is very nice away from the main road which makes it pretty quiet. Breakfast was decent. Staff friendly. While we stayed there they had an issue with the Wi-fi not working, the hotel had people working on it but by the time we left there was still no internet connection.

Good location to explore the region

Good location to explore the region, but the place is more appropriate for local (Costa Rica) families as there is a pool used by children and adults from afternoon till late evening. Also they don’t give you any information about the places to visit in the region…. most of my questions got: “I don’t know” as answers and they were all simple like where to park and etc.

This one is a very good place in this area. I definitely recommend it. Here are a few reason: Its very quiet at night Its very clean The beds are comfortable. AC does the job great but the ceiling height is high. This makes the rooms very very fresh without requiring the AC unit on all the time. Parking is a piece of cake, safe, private and organized. There a couple of convenience stores right in the main road entrace so you can get anything you need before heading off the Hotel. Oh and the costarrican breakfast is big and delicious.

Stay Extension Update: Downgrading from 3 to 2 stars. I extended my stay here for one additional night on a Saturday, but unfortunately, I ended up regretting it. My room (Room 5) was located right next to the pool and the communal open-air kitchen. That evening, several groups used the kitchen extensively lasting until midnight. This made it very difficult to get a good night sleep for my early departure the next day. On a positive note, the room itself was clean and spacious. It remains a decent budget option for Puerto Viejo.

Good stay

So we booked hotel room for 4 people and we got 4 queen size beds. That was unusual but ended up very comfortable. We had apartment with kitchen and hall. The pool was small but refreshing after all day hiking or ocean salt. It is about 18 mins walk to the beach so that was not as cool. I have ne er seen these huge bamboo trees. Over all very good stay.
