"Reception lobby was so warm and inviting as were the staff when someone eventually came to the counter, but everything went a bit downhill from that point. A room change was necessary due to a burning smell (faulty microwave). 2nd room had major cleanliness issues in kitchen and lounge area and a broken cooker resulting in our dinner being cooked by the restaurants helpful chef! The freezer was so frozen up the door wouldn’t open! Staff were very apologetic but it marred what has been a lovely day. The Indoor pool had a low waterline and tiles missing. The hotel room in general need some serious TLC. Staff were nice although very few of them. Took a walk down to the beach nearby which was pleasant. "

"Beautifully appointed room with parking right outside. Our host, Jill was so nice and made us feel so welcome with advice as to where to eat and what to do. Can’t rate Annabelle highly enough. Great place to stay in Hokitika. "
