Arrived late evening on Wednesday all good, got back to hotel late on Thursday very noisy... talked to receptionist and advised it was quiz night but should finish soon - what room was I in ...... oh that’s the one above bar I was advised. It did finish but was followed up by loud music..
Friday more loud music and what appeared to be a loud “sing” along. Saturday night functions on also really loud music. At no point From booking to arrival at hotel were we advised about possible noise.
On top of this there were the fire safety regulations that were being ignored ( did bring this to duty managers attention) not sure he got the seriousness of it.
On the whole staff were friendly
Clean hotel with a large free car park. The hotel was clean and the room comfortable. Some confusion over the food menu which differed to what was on the website and what food was actually available. In the end it was resolved with the day menu being available till 10pm and not 5pm as shown on the menu. Overall a very good hotel and would recommend it. Ideal for Route 44 music venue just a few minutes walk.
Generally well pleased with my stay. The staff were all attentive & courteous. As there were not many guests staying I got an upgraded room which was great. The breakfast was good.
Only downside was that the bar food was Indian which I don't eat. However I was able to get an alternative & also the bar was busy with many diners so i'm in the minority!

Guest house not a hotel
Room was in a what looks like a guest house in a house next door😩😩
Breakfast was worst I have had at best western hotel group!!!!
Stayed here last year, returned this year. The receptionist Nancy is very friendly and helpful. Parking is sufficient. The room was good but the side lamp had a slight lose connection. Bed is comfortable and quiet room. Went for tea in the bar, unfortunately we waited over an hour for food, no explanation. After asking a second time how much longer the starter would be turns out the order was forgotten, an apology off the staff and finally 25mins later the starter arrived. After speaking to the manager he apologised profusely and explained they were only informed of a kitchen refit the day before. He offered a refund for food and drinks for both nights of our stay and given VIP treatment the following night. The food was very good and the problem was resolved although am still awaiting the refund as it had to be done off the booking. The hotel also have a good rate with a local taxi company. Overall, the stay was good.
Hated this hotel. Entry is thru Smokey pub and felt quite uncomfortable walking family thru a dump of a pub. We booked for 2 adults and 1 child and there was only 1 double bed. No other rooms and despite showing the booking for 3 she argued with us. Reception requested a deposit in case we damaged the room (which was pretty well worn and grubby - so this was an insult and made us wonder about who normally stayed at this location. ) Reception person was rude and called me “darling” which was just unprofessional. Our room was in a separate old building with no lift. Carpark very dark and unlighted.Hotel not well sign posted and apparently entry is in back but not well lighted and carpark so jammed couldn’t get near that entry if we tried.
Very well run, spotlessly clean, super-friendly mature local staff. Very good breakfast too. My only issue is that they automatically take away towels, soap etc and replace with new every night - which environmentally is a huge waste of energy and contributes to landfill etc. Most chains now offer a 'hang it up to use it again' policy - I hope this place will do that too ASAP. But overall - very impressed.
We were surprised to be sleeping in a different building, especially when the weather could have been better. Also my wife is not good with stairs and we ended up being on the top floor 40 steps from the pavement.

The breakfast was terrible. The person making breakfast did not know how to poach an egg.Cold uncooked .Took ages .Bad experience
The bar tables were sticky and the awful music way too loud and inappropriate. Not bar music. The room was clean. The hotel looked tired .
The Hotel was easy to find with a large car park. The appearance is pretty good with nothing worrying
However, the car park has many signs saying pay parking now, so we did, then at reception we found out is wasn't necessary. The floor in our room 16, had an unbelievably squeaky floor, thankfully no rooms below us.
Friendly staff, both in reception and the hotel bar. Room was spacious, clean and well equipped. Always good to have tea/coffee and biscuits available.
The only downside was the location as we were staying prior to a flight from Birmingham. it took 25 mins by taxi at a cost of £16, not bad but it would so helpful if the hotel operated an airport shuttle service, even at a charge.
All in all we would stay here again.

The hotel building is old.
my staying room is near from stairs, so it is noizy.
Electric plug location is not good, there is no around the bed.
If you can accept histroric building, it is no problem.
This hotel is about 6 miles from Birmingham Airport. We only stayed one night as we were travelling north the next day. I can't recommend it enough as it is one of the best value budget hotels I have ever stayed in! Secure car park, friendly staff, very comfortable bed, and one of the tastiest breakfasts I have ever had served to me at the table. It is excellent!....and it has a bar!!!
Lovely place, good food and great staff. Slightly dated decor but that is part of its charm. Would think air con would be a must in a warm summer.

Room was brilliant, lighting could do be brighter (eyesight problems), also could do with hand rails by the outside steps to help get in/out of the hotel
Staff very friendly and hopeful - first time staying there, will definitely go again!!
Smart clean rooms with clean streamlined rooms which could have been a bit bigger, Beds were small and no lift was available. It rained the whole time and this room was a building opposite but was easy to get to and staff were lovely.
Would use again but I would book a bigger room.

Reasonable hotel that I keep coming back to
I like this hotel. The staff are friendly, especially the lady (Kathy?) in the mornings for breakfast. The hotel is a little dated but meets my expectations. It actually reminds me of vising my grandparents place a kid!
Very handy for when i visit clients in the Sparkbrook/Sparkhill area rather than staying in the centre and fighting traffic in the morning.
I've probably spent 20 or more nights here in the last 12 months and keep coming back.
My daughter and I stayed at the hotel for the BBC Good Food Show. From the moment we arrived we were given a very warm welcome, all the staff could not do enough for us the room was clean the beds very comfortable. As we checked out we asked to speak to the manager to say how amazing he had been(Liam I think his name was)and ALL the other staff had been.Highly recommended:):)
