"I can't say enough for what a great time we had at Kakao Lodge. I was skeptical at first since I usually like staying in my chain hotels that provide all the normal American comforts. But after staying here, my mind has totally changed. You can't describe how awesome it is to be able to see a half dozen different species of exotic frogs at night, or a sloth while eating breakfast, or tropic birds singing to you in the morning. And don't forget about breakfast. Everyday, we had homemade to order...

"We had a great time at the property. It is a family owned property, very well maintained and managed. The whole family very amicable and friendly. Uncle gave us a free night tour in his garden which was really sweet and informative. Loved the breakfast aunty prepared. Only drawback is the road to property is broken however nothing can match to the great hospitality! Me and wife had a great experience and would recommend everyone to opt for stay at Jardin if you want have an experience of homely...

"The room was clean and spacious. The property is amazing with nature trails right outside your cabin and a beautiful garden with a talking parrot. The hotel/restaurant also has a few chickens and a turkey. The food at the restaurant was so authentic and some of the best food we ate in Costa Rica. I definitely recommend the tilapia. We ate at the restaurant for 3 of the 4 meals that we had when we were in the area because of how good and convenient it was. Would definitely recommend to anyone...

"I wish I had known about this place before wasting my money somewhere else. Santa María Volcano Lodge is amazing. I stayed here with my two small children, and the experience was excellent. The staff are outstanding—friendly, welcoming, and genuinely caring. I’m 100% sure there’s a lot to do here, and the atmosphere is peaceful, beautiful, and family-friendly. This is the kind of place that makes you want to come back. Highly recommended."
