"We chose this property because it was good value, in a convenient location. We loved being close to the lake, and the kitchen was a big plus. We enjoyed having a special dinner out one evening, but being able to prepare most of our meals in the room was great. Superficially, the property looks great, but there were numerous little maintenance issues that, on their own, would not have been a big deal. But, taken together, it seemed like just one thing after another. Firstly, the beds were creaky, so it was impossible to get up in the middle of the night without waking your roommate. It was also not the most comfortable of mattresses. Our TV was missing a remote, so on-and-off, as well as the volume, could only be adjusted on the TV itself. Unfortunately, only the volume-up button on the TV worked, so when the TV was too loud, we discovered that the volume-down button didn't work and we just had to live with it. We did inform the office, but we never received a replacement remote (just the Roku remote to choose channels). The large cooking element on the stove did not work. This was only a minor issue, as we had the 3 smaller elements to cook on. Lastly, the "free breakfast" advertised with the room is nothing to get excited about. Cereal, coffee and some packaged pastries. Luckily, since I knew we had a kitchen, I'd brought our own eggs and other food from home. Having a full-size refrigerator is a big plus."

"We have stayed at the hotel a dozen times when it was formerly Black Forest Lodge. The rooms are clean and very nice, and the pricing is extremely reasonable. Our only complaint is don’t ask for a late checkout(as is states is doable in the room) unless you want to pay around 25% of the room cost for an hour late checkout and 50% of the room cost for two hours. That is absolutely asinine. We stayed on a Tuesday and no one else was in our building. Housekeeping probably doesn’t come until the afternoon so it didn’t seem like a huge ask. We were going to stay up in the area and it would have been nice to have a late checkout, but obviously we didn’t when we were told the charges. Under the previous owner we were never charged for a late check out. That is an unnecessary money grab. I let the front desk know to let management know how ludicrous that is."

"We had an excellent stay at Marina Riviera! The location was wonderful, right by Big Bear Lake, and perfect for enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The room was comfortable, clean, and cozy, and the atmosphere was relaxing. My husband and I had a lovely time and really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to come back again!"

"This is a new renovation which is still in progress; it will only get better! The owner was on site during our stay and could not have been more accommodating. You can tell that "pet friendly" was part of the thinking during the renovation. In fact, there was no charge to bring our golden retriever. The room is laid out very simply with a minimal amount of fabric in the furnishings. When you walked into the room it smelled like red cedar. Location is excellent with only a very short walk to town. All systems are modern and worked very efficiently."

"The cabin is perfectly set off from the lake and in good walking distance to the Village and boat rentals. Kitchen is fulling stocked with dishes, pots, pans and coffee pot etc... Little table for two set cutely up.... Beds were nice with gel mattress, and bedding with pillows new and clean.. Bathroom clean... Shower/Tub looked like maybe someone replaced the shower head and did clean up after replacement... could have been rinsed down.... We will defiantly be staying again :-) possibly renting more than one cabin for a family trip."
