Good position for exploring the ares

Good for the money paid. It needs a more accurate description eg. restaurant, none, it was bar snacks, good value ( fish & chips). Arriving on a Tuesday no food available! So to Berwick, a strange town where you need a parking disk to record arrival and departure times in free carparks. Disk £1.00. After a long journey, not amused. Full English breakfast enormous.

Great inn for comfort and value and location

Great inn on the A1 and a good base for visiting Berwick, Holy Island and Bamburgh. We stayed for 3 nights in June and used The Island View Inn as a base for our trips out. Our room was clean, bright and comfortable and the view from the room across the countryside and coast was lovely. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was great but we also had dinner there 2 out of the 3 nights and that was also very good quality and value. The inn is right on the A1 but the traffic in Northumberland is nothing like in the South so there is no road noise in the room. Great base for exploring the area.

Will not return

When i pulled upni thought i was a a derilict building as its run down and looked closed. I was greeted by the owner who saw me looking bemused in the car park as everywhere was locked up. First thing i noticed it was 4 miles from Berwick not 0.5 mile like advertised. I was told the earliest i could have Breakfast was at 7.30am which for Business is to late. There was no evening meals unless i liked Pizza and the Bar had virtually no stock. The Room was ok but no cental heating but had electric one. Bathroom very poor lighting. Overhaul a very rundown Establishment.

Absolutely fantastic

Our stay here was fantastic! The room we had (family quadruple) was newly renovated and very clean and comfortable. With a teenager and a tween, it's not easy for us to fit in most family rooms, but the kids loved having their own room (with bunk beds!) Just off the main room. Staff were lovely and friendly, and the view from our room was gorgeous. If we're ever in the area again, we'll be staying here!

ever again

Hotel room was very basic, out of date, the shower was like warm no radiator in the bathroom made the whole shower experience cold, beds very uncomfortable, no blinds up at windows only poor quality curtains, no tea/coffee making facilités, tv very small for size of the room could hardly see it, beds did nothing but creek feet stuck out of the bottom and rested on the wood making it difficult to sleep the pipes running under the floor creaked all night very loud, food was ok but nothing special

Room was very cold ,told radiators were on a timer ,never got any heat in my room,kettle tea making equipment had been removed from rooms as trip switch apparently kept going off , the lady in the bar did make me a hot drink,but I slept in a jumper asi was cold

Vastly overcharged by using Hotels.com

I was vastly overcharged for my stay by Hotels.com. I paid $100 Pounds per night. When I arrived the hotel told me that they only charge about 50 Pounds per night. The person who booked me in said they would talk to Hotels.com about getting me a refund, However I have not received one yet. Also the location is not very good if you do not have a car. Otherwise the Inn is quite good. Hotels.com apparently is the problem.

Hotel stay

The hotel was well situated just off A1 and a few miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed which was ideal for us. The hotel was clean and tidy and room was ideal with a comfy bed and nice bathroom. We only had breakfast which was very good. The staff were very good polite and friendly, would stay at this hotel again.

Location shown on google map is very confusing. This shows the property to be in the middle of industrial est. The actual property is 4 miles south on the A1
