My daughter saw your hotel on Sam and Colby and we just had to go stay in the ghost room. The hotel is really a thing of beauty, I really enjoyed the balconies off the mezzanine floor, I spent about 30-45 minutes out there this morning. It is a great place to do that. we will come back for sure, I would like to stay in one of the suites.
If you don’t mind homelessness all around the building & a bathroom the size of a porta potty this is the place for you. Keep in mind there isn’t an actual bar it’s basically a little stand to order drinks from. The bed is the most uncomfortable with a comforter thin as a paper. Don’t expect to get sleep as you can hear everything from the halls. The only thing this place has to offer is its history and cafe.
In the past, I have a love staying at the Driscoll. It’s one of my all-time favorite places in Austin because it’s so beautiful in historic. However, this time it fell short. I ordered room service that turned out to be cold. I couldn’t get the hairdryer to go above a certain wattage, the room was cold and unfriendly. We couldn’t watch television due to it being so far from the bed and experience in general was a little bit disappointing.
History, history, history… a few spooky ghost tales made it that much more enjoyable. The location is the ringer being in the heart of Austin on 6th & Brazos. Need I say more? Great stay!
