Visit this quiet beach on the Bahía de Tangolunda for safe swimming, pretty sunsets and boat trips around picturesque islets.

Soft golden sand, warm water and scenic sunsets await at Playa Zaachila (Zaachila Beach). This small and private beach sits on Bahía Tangolunda, one of the nine bays that make up the magnificent Bahías de Huatulco. Peaceful and sheltered by rocks, Playa Zaachila is popular with couples and families. It’s also a good base for exploring Huatulco’s striking coastline and enjoying boundless watersport opportunities.

Access to Playa Zaachila is via the hotel resort that frames the beach. Visitors often discover an all but deserted stretch of sand lapped at by gentle waves. Enjoy a rejuvenating swim in the crystal-clear water or simply sit and gaze out across the bay.

Go to Playa Tangolunda, a crescent-shaped beach set across a rocky headland at the north of Playa Zaachila. Find beach bars and waterfront restaurants. Rent a Jet-Ski or enjoy an adrenalin-inducing ride on a water sled. Take a boat cruise around the bay to rocky islets such as Isla La Montosa. You can also arrange boat tours that visit each of the nine bays of Bahía Tangolunda.

Rent a car and visit other areas of Bahía de Huatulco. Drive east along the coast to Barra de la Cruz and El Mojon Beach, two beaches famous for surfing. Visit the ruins of pre-Hispanic monuments at Parque Eco-Arqueológico Copalita (Copalita Eco-Archaeological Park).

Just a 10-minute drive west from the beach is La Crucecita, a charming village home to a leafy plaza, handicraft shops and restaurants. While here visit Marina Chahué and the often empty Chahué Beach.

Travel further west to Bahía de Santa Cruz, which marks the start of Huatulco National Park. Join a guided hike to spot tropical birds and catch a boat to isolated coves, with excellent snorkeling and scuba-diving sites.
