"1. Positives: great location, reasonable breakfast, good sized family room with 2 decent beds, friendly and helpful staff 2. Negatives: not well noise insulated: heard all the traffic at night; ridiculously small shower ( got hurt in it on handrail - just why? there was space for a larger shower cubicle in the bathroom); limited car parking and £25 extra and not guaranteed."

"The hotel’s location is great only a short walk into town there’s a small Tesco about 100mtrs away incase you forgot something there is a multi-storey car park close by, its an easy walk from the train station, opposite is Sparks great street food,in the street behind Sparks is a great Italian restaurant called Mazarno it’s really excellent Italian food but booking is essentially, breakfast at the hotel is included and there is a very good selection to chose from both hot and cold."

"Would recommend for a stay in York 20 minute walk into York centre. Leisure facilities are very good and well maintained. Food and bar areas very good."

"Breakfast was good although you had to book a time for every morning ( We would have preferred to just turn up when we were ready. ) Bathroom musty as no window or working fan. Window in bedroom didn't shut properly. Very noisy, window rattled with buses going past. Good location, short walk from centre and everything we wanted to do."

"A very clean, well maintained hotel. The room was surprisingly large compared to other hotels I have stayed at in Europe. Everything in the room was spotless and very comfortable. It’s a great location and valet parking makes checking in very easy and convenient. I would recommend The Grand York and would stay again"
