"1. Positives: great location, reasonable breakfast, good sized family room with 2 decent beds, friendly and helpful staff
2. Negatives: not well noise insulated: heard all the traffic at night; ridiculously small shower ( got hurt in it on handrail - just why? there was space for a larger shower cubicle in the bathroom); limited car parking and £25 extra and not guaranteed."
"Would recommend for a stay in York
20 minute walk into York centre.
Leisure facilities are very good and well maintained.
Food and bar areas very good."
"A very clean, well maintained hotel. The room was surprisingly large compared to other hotels I have stayed at in Europe. Everything in the room was spotless and very comfortable.
It’s a great location and valet parking makes checking in very easy and convenient.
I would recommend The Grand York and would stay again"
"Lovely hotel close enough to the centre of York for convenience but just enough out of the bizz.
Mattress was very much on the firm side for me but that's just personal preference.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful. View from the bar, over the river was lovely.
Breakfast had a good range of food. No brown bread at all on our first morning. However there was a nice selection of breads the next two mornings. My only small issue is that I like poached eggs and, on asking, the chef wouldn't do them. That's the fist time I've been at a buffet style breakfast and been refused a poached egg on request. It didn't detract from the enjoymen of my visit."
"Very welcoming reception, lovely staff. Room very clean and all essentials there.
Hotel itself clean, spaces, lovely surroundings.
Breakfast was good, buffet with typical English breakfast, also healthy breakfast available, toaster and white/brown bread, no rolls. Maybe not for some, but Important for me, not variety of morning coffee (disappointing) just instant coffee + milk.
In the evening restaurant serves a great meals, drinks and variety of coffee! That means the proper coffee machine is in the kitchen but not using for breakfast.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Overall highly recommended I would stay there again."
