Our second stay here and did not disappoint. Friendly welcome, pleasant room with comfortable bed. Clean, big bathroom with good shower, for a country pub. Easy to communicate with before booking. Lovely dinner and nice breakfast, as chef away, continental style delivered to our room.

Nice stay
Attentive and friendly staff. Good food especially the blackcurrant sorbet. Comfortable bed. The only gripe is that the vegetarian breakfast was the same price as the meat one for the same meal without the meat.

An all round excellent haven
We had a most enjoyable 3-night stay at The Helyar Arms. Staff and the proprietors were most welcoming and helpful, the accommodation was clean, spacious and comfortable; and the food was excellent. The garden was immaculate and a joy to sit there with a drink. Prices were reasonable and and overall gave really good value for money. Strongly recommend.

Perfect place to stay for homage to TS Eliot trip!
Beautiful family pub in an idyllic rural setting, friendly service, great food, delightful garden, comfortable rooms. Could not be better for visiting East Coker!

Nice pub in a lovely location but tiny hot room. Evening food in the pub was expensive and pretty awful.

A really good choice
Lovely stay at the Helyar Arms. Friendly welcoming staff and the food was excellent. Really good breakfast. Dog friendly and set in a very pretty village. Unexpected stay while coordinating a stressful house move and yet I still felt like I’d had a nice break away ! Will definitely be back.

Wonderful Weekend
We stayed at the Helyar Arms as we had a wedding in the area. From the time of arrival till we left we were looked after by Patrick & Claire and the team there. The breakfast each morning was very good as was the meals we had there. The room was very comfortable also.

The staff were obviously well trained and happy to help. The food was delicious with a pleasing menu that was part usual pub favourites and part gastro pub. I opted for the pheasant. The pub itself still has a cosy traditional pub feel while being clean and modern. The bed was very comfy and the room had all the facilities i would hope for. I would definately stay again.

Interesting period property in charming village.
Interesting, quirky period room with nice views. Comfortable bed. Quiet except for occasional stange banging noises at night, possibly the wind flapping something. Not much noise intrusion from guests in the corridor either. The only thing we didn't appreciate was being phoned several days in advance to be asked if we wanted to book for dinner! Quite apart from the fact that we'd seen neither menu nor prices and obviously had no idea so far in advance as to what our appetites would be on the day, they then explained that if we didn't book we would probably have to wait as their restaurant could get overcrowded!! With us both being very susceptible to Covid, that was the very last thing we needed to hear, so we politely declined.

Enjoyable and lovely stay
Very happy with our stay. We received a phone call prior to our arrival to ask if we wanted to book an evening meal, so they could a book a table, as they get full quickly. Liked that we could check in as early as 12 midday if we wished. Room was large and very comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Breakfast was very good and catered for our dietary requirements excellently. The same for the evening meal. This was excellent too.

Oasis of tranquillity
Everything was excellent at the Helyar Arms but we were particularly impressed by Mark the manager who although extremely busy found time to attend to our individual needs. Full marks to the owners and all the staff for a very friendly and relaxing stay.
