"Hotel is modern with beautiful paintings and artwork. Loved all the natural wood prominence. Location is awesome, close to shopping, restaurants etc. Shoreditch area has a very vibrant young community. Loved the free water dispenser for both sparkling and still water in the hallways. I loathe paying for water in hotels. Free breakfast is also a plus. The only negative is that the television remote control was not user friendly, nevertheless, I enjoyed my stay."

"The room was clean and freshly painted. It was VERY small. The lights were next to the room door for both the bedroom & bathroom. No switch in the bathroom. Also no outlet for a hairdryer in the bathroom. Though we got off on an annoying foot when after a red eye flight, we arrived 20 minutes before check in and had to store our baggage, the rest of our stay was great! The staff were kind and helpful. Having a restaurant for a late night snack or drink on site was wonderful. The small bar also opened early with pastries & coffee. The restaurant offered a buffet breakfast that was ridiculously overpriced. Fortunately within a few steps of the hotel were several great breakfast options."

"We stayed on the second week that the hotel was open. A few teething troubles - we couldn’t make the microwave work and there were no instructions, and the light in the shower decided to stop working in the morning. However, the room was lovely, the view incredible, and it was just a short walk from Canary Wharf station. I travelled with my 17y/o daughter and we would have appreciated an option for twin beds rather than a double."

"I would always recommend staying at the Apex to anyone visiting London. I find that the little details make all the difference - amenities in the room such as lip balm, hand cream, shoe polish, popcorn and biscuits, slippers and bathrobe as well as a bath duck which my little girl loved is something most hotels do not provide. Also the quality of things such as shower gel and hand wash, shampoo etc is just much better than most. I was with my toddler and she absolutely loved the experience and it definitely felt like luxury and great value for money. The staff are always really friendly, we received 2 complimentary drinks, they were really helpful in dropping bags off and during breakfast they made a big fuss of my little girl and she felt really special. Specifically around breakfast I feel it is the best quality I’ve received for this price of hotel, the choice is immaculate and it is constantly being refreshed throughout the morning in terms of fruit, baked items etc and you get your choice of a full breakfast. £22 seems expensive for breakfast but this is definitely worth it, plus my little one ate for free. When we visit London, as long as the room rates are under £200 I would never stay anywhere else."

"We booked based on the hotels.com website info and paid a price that reflected this being a hotel, however (apart from the room itself) everything else more like the hostel it has been taken over by. We felt very mislead. We received no replies to our messages via the hotels.com app pre-arrival, and the phone was not answered so parking wasn't booked. Check-in was chaotic. Lifts were not working and access to rooms was via a narrow metal spiral staircase. Breakfast was very disappointing - poor quality food and limited options, especially for hot breakfast - beans, hash browns, cheap sausages and a hard boiled egg in its shell! It was fine for a hostel but we'd paid hotel prices! Worst of all was when the fire alarm went off during the night. Not the hotel's fault, obviously, but very fortunately it was not a real fire as it was utter chaos for 1.5 hours while the alarm kept ringing. If there were any staff managing things we didn't see them - before the fire brigade arrived and said there was no fire there was no attempt to evacuate the building. There was zero communication or instruction throughout, no checking if rooms had been evacuated or roll call, no assistance for people with young children on the spiral stairs. People all over the building were wondering what on earth was going on. On the plus side the room was fine, the few staff we saw were lovely, and it's a great location."
