"Hillside hotel was not a great stay. Our room smelled stale and like old smoke, I think maybe it was ingrained in the wood paneling. Our room was not like the photos (definitely not fully remodeled) or luxurious. The bathroom had new fixtures and vanity but the tub was still old and kind of grimy. The window screen in the bathroom was ancient and hard to open and there were some sort of seeds or insect eggs all over the windowsill there. The size of the room was fine (only room for 1 small table, no chairs) but there was no additional deadbolt or slide latch on the door and that didn’t feel safe, especially after someone tried to put a code into our door at about 11:00 one night. This motel is somewhat cute, cozy and quiet but still seems a bit run down. However, after driving around Luray, I’d venture to say it’s the nicest of the roadside motels we saw. It has beautiful views of the Shenandoah’s and it’s very convenient to town and the park. It wasn’t horrible but wasn’t what we expected. The manager Judy was very nice when she called to confirm our reservation and when I let her know the room smelled smoky. Be aware that not all rooms look like the photo on the website."

"This property was something else! They checked me in, took my ID and credit card and then forgot I was there. They called at 10pm the first night and came banging on my door at 9:30pm the next night, still confused as to the fact that I was even there!! I have two young children and didn’t appreciate them being woken up both nights. We paid for 3 but left after 2! The tiles outside are meant for indoor. My children were slipping and falling all over the place when it rained. The day we left I noticed a small blue circle on my mirror that wasn’t there before. I can only assume it was some kind of camera because what kind of mirror has a blue circle light on the bottom? To be clear this was in NO way a modern motel that would have had any kind of fancy tech mirror. This was simply hung in the wall or so we thought. Sketchy. "

"Got a text asking if there was anything the property could do. Requested them to take a day off the reservation. When I arrived, this had not happened and they refused to refund the day. "

"Hampton Inn Woodstock, VA – Pros and Cons PROS: - Great location, near several restaurants, gas stations, highways and recreation. - Beautiful scenery - the mountain views in this area are gorgeous!! - The indoor heated swimming pool and hot tub were both the perfect temperature, clean, large, and relaxing. - The free continental breakfast included hot waffles (regular and blueberry flavors), scrambled eggs, and sausage as well as cold options such as cereal, juices, yogurts, and muffins. - Large lobby and breakfast area. - End of street, quiet location - In-room fridge - Clean – the room furnishings, floors, bathroom and bedding were clean. CONS: - They are under “renovation” and the construction workers / equipment takes up several parking spaces that would have otherwise been available. - The “finished” construction work in the rooms is not really finished. The carpet, tile, shower and vanity were new (and look nice), but several wall and floor trim and edging were missing, showing bare drywall and other noticeable unfinished construction. The wallpaper was still the “old” wallpaper and was peeling off the walls. I’m not sure why they didn’t complete an entire room before moving on to the next. - The lobby, breakfast area, pool and hot tub all seem to be finished. We would stay at this hotel again for the indoor hot tub, pool, free continental breakfast, and location. "
