I left work the other night and I on the way to the car, I came across this beautiful sunset at Waterplace Park. All frozen over now.

Waterplace Park is an urban park situated along the Woonasquatucket River in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Finished in 1994, Waterplace Park is connected to 3/4 mile of cobblestone-paved pedestrian walkways along the waterfront known as Riverwalk. Venice-styled Pedestrian bridges cross the river. Most of Riverwalk is below street level and automotive traffic. Waterplace Park and Riverwalk together are host to Providence's popular summertime Waterfire events, a series of bonfires lit on the river accompanied by Classical and World music.

It's a cold, cold wintery day but the sky seemed ablaze with light. I found the contrast of colours - from very cool to very warm - to be fantastic and i wanted to capture the moment.

Glad I did; it was all over no sooner than when I finished taking photos. Right place, right time.

It's a Friday night, leaving the office on way to my car, I came across this view of downtown Providence.

I really like the drama in the sky, dark ominous, foreboding. And it stands in such stark contrast to the bright, well lit buildings.

This shot was taken in front of RISD, the Rhode Island School of Design. In the foreground, two rivers meet, the Moshassuck and the Woonasquatucket.

In the background one can see the 'new' Providence. Most of these buildings have gone up within the past 25 years, after these two rivers were moved. In the warmer weather, Waterfire can be seen illuminating these rivers.
