Ok first the positives
Check in was quick and a young girl showed us to our room. Friendly staff. Great location if visiting tank museum, monkey world and Durdle Door as all within 15 minutes away.
Now the negatives
Family Room we were given was in the attic (room 222) which wasn’t what I ordered but were fully booked. Clean but had old carpets and furniture. Beds were comfortable. Could hear loud music all night and there was no way of controlling the temperature in the room.
Breakfast on Saturday morning was made to order. And on Sunday was a buffet style. In my opinion wasn’t worth the money as wasn’t that much choice. No pastries only toast. Avoid the Scrambled egg as it’s just too watery, sausage was nice but bacon barely cooked.
Would I go back here again... no. Which is a shame as it has great potential just needs some money spent on modernising it.
I originally booked 1 night through Expedia for Sat 7th July, I then decided to extend to Friday & Saturday. However I could not extend the booking online so had to call to cancel and re-book for 2 nights. Upon arriving after a 4 hour drive I was greeted at the reception by a very unfriendly welcome. I was abruptly told that my booking at not gone through and they had no rooms available for two nights but only one. This is despite me booking through Expedia and had no emails or call to say there was an issue. I was made to feel the victim and seemed to be my fault, no care or conciderstion for me (the customer). I was then told there may be another room available just outside of the main hotel to which I asked to see it. I was taken down a dirt track past old buildings and rubble to a chalet style room which was boiling hot, smelt and looked absolutely nothing like the pictures online. I refused this room and went back to the main hotel. I was then told I could stay in the main hotel for the night but would have to come back to reception in the morning to sort out the second night stay. Just what I needed to waste more time of my break and stress. The next morning this was sorted. The whole hotel looks nothing like the pictures; old decoration, jacuzzi empty, pool area a mess and somewhat abandoned, gardens not maintained, drinks glasses left outside from the night before for hours into the day. Absolute shocking experience and zero level of customer service at this hotel.
Although hotel and gardens and facilities were great I mainly booked this hotel for the jacuzzi and when we went to go in the jacuzzi it was closed for renovations- this was annoying and there was no advance warning
