Amenities included 'airport shuttle ' but there is a $28 charge! We were under the impression that this hotel was recently renovated, but it's in poor condition.
Hotel was up to standard of the company; however, the central area was not conducive to safe walking after dark. I was accosted by an unsuccessful 'Artful Dodger' during my 90 second walk from the only viable restaurant to the hotel. During the day such considerations were not apparent. The other Protea hotel on the lagoon would be preferable.
Das Personal sehr freundlich. Das Frühstück sehr gut, lecker Spiegelei. Die Handtücher sehr gut richtig gute Qualität. Das Zimmer etwas in der Zeit stehen geblieben.
Walvis Bay is more an industrial working port but the Hotel was pleasant enough. The meals in the dining room were enjoyed by all. One allocated room had not been made up after the previous guest but it was quickly rectified by housekeeping. Stay was not without physical issues with the room etc. but hotel staff were friendly and rapidly on to any issues when advised.

Tolerable for a few days
Stayed here a few times. On arrival looks perfectly pleasant, but the rooms are truly dated; filthy carpets, water is piped in from the river (allegedly filtered) - but we had dirty brown water and the smell of fish in the shower water. Two very small bottles of water (and they don't sell large ones) seems terrible given the lack of potable water. Door locks were a bit flimsy. No writing tablet/pens/business supplies in the room.
Internet, forget about it. They need to stop advertising it's even an option; paid or unpaid, it does not exist.
The service, however was good - above average. Everyone we encountered on staff was friendly and accommodating.
Protea Hotel Walvis Bay is situation in the middle of Walvis Bay, it's a very convenient place surrounded with shops, banks, post office and take aways eateries. It's a old and well kept building. Breakfast is great and various. If you want to be near all the aminities that Walvis Bay can offer this is the place to be.
It was ok. Retract is good. Staff is very friendly. Couple of lights in the room were unlit (broken?), but I was using room only for sleep, so didn't bother to complain.
This has to be the best hotel off the Atlantic Ocean Southern African coast.

Schlechter Service
Good location, friendly staff and clean room. I received a room in the back block behind the garage. The rooms seem to be more spacious there in compare to the rooms in the main building. The bathroom is a little rough and basic but acceptable. The room had a small (empty) refrigerator and there's a Shoprite Supermarket right near the hotel to fill it up. The breakfast is o.k. and they prepare eggs on demand. In the evening there's a buffet. I tried it once and the quality was below average. But we've also tried some restaurants in the direct neighborhood and they were not much better. Walvis Bay is a quiet place so the street noise is limited. Finally I was happy to have booked in the Protea Walvis Bay and not in the Protea Pelican Bay. The last one may look nicer, at the Pelican Bay, but is much more isolated from center and more important, it is located right near a port container terminal ! So for business the Protea Walvis Bay remains the best choice.
The hotel is good, not too far from the restaurants and beach. The rooms are equally clean although the corridors/staircases leading to the rooms are not very clean
