"A lovely clean and easily accessed hotel. The room had everything I required, a nice comfy bed, tea, coffee and biscuits along with a desk and chair.The bathroom is well spaced out with a wonderful powerful shower . The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. I strongly recommend a stay at the King Alfred."

"Breakfast was very good. Room a bit small and no drawers to put any thing. Staffs are good. The only problem is they didn't make up my room even though I put up the sign."

"The hotel is in a lovely place facing the sea with areas to walk. A few minutes walk from the railway museum and train rides to a beautiful area. The only thing I was unhappy with was that not all the staff worked as a team at meal times. The rooms, facilities and amenities were all lovely. Staff were approachable."

"This is a hotel in a small community on the costal estuary. Not a 5 star Marriott, but you wouldn’t want one in this quaint town."

"A lovely pub with a stunning beer garden and direct access to the canal path for walks to Carnforth Morecambe and Lancaster. Only issue was the heat in the room which I appreciate it was unusually hot but room 3 also has a large noisy extractor fan outside the window so it was either heat or noise. The fan does get turned off at night. Would still stay again and the food was excellent."

"Considering the price, the apartment was ok. There is an air fryer, kettle and toaster. Washing up is a challenge in the small sink in the bathroom. Filling the kettle is difficult as it doesn't fit under the tap in the bathroom! The bed was ok, but you can feel the springs. The TV didn't work as the aerial lead was damaged. The hair drier was dangerous as it was full of dust and smelt of burning. The views over the bay were spectacular. Ok for a couple of nights, no longer though."

Threadbare carpet and frayed edges of the mattress hanging down. Dated decor and a less than pristine bathroom with a disgusting non slip mat! Really! Loud music played in the breakfast room. Cold plates - Coffee like dishwater The morning server looked like she slept in her clothes with a straggly pony tail and un-ironed shirt. I already informed the...

"We’d had a fantastic lunch on our last trip to Cartmel which influenced our overnight stay to break our journey home and we were not disappointed! We arrived to a warm welcome, and the most amazing and relaxing room. The bed was soooo comfortable along with a spacious bathroom. We had another fantastic meal in the evening meal; very seasonal with what I feel would be daily changes depending on market availability. There was a fantastic selection of beers and wine along with a whole of host...

"The room was very dusty. There was brick dust on the bathroom walls together with cobwebs. There was dust stacked on the hand basin waste and mould on the curtains. To get hot water to the basin you had to run the tap for at least 10 minutes and you could not get any hot water to the shower at all. The car park was a joke....7 or 8 spaces for a 40 room hotel."

"From easy parking, ease of checkin, spotlessly clean room, comfortable bed. Hot drink making facilities and a nice addition of water in the mini fridge, access to a dining area downstairs with microwave, hot drink facilities and a toaster was all you needed. The price reflects the absence of breakfast supplied and to be honest, we preferred this option. Great value for money. We will be back! "

"It is a lovely property on a great location. It works like a well oiled machine until you ask for something out of the ordinary. Porridge made with normal milk was too challenging I felt. Yes they would be showing the England match - so we cancelled our booking elsewhere. Then they didn’t show it."
