Staff were friendly and extremely helpful; there is a large shared fridge downstairs which is incredibly useful if you're travelling around and self-catering as we were. "Beautiful hotel. Hot tubs and sauna have beautiful views. A couple of off-putting things about a hotel of this quality were the melamine plates used for breakfast (very cheap!) and the fact that we had to pre-pay for breakfast before being allowed into the breakfast area. Such bad taste!"

"Guesthouse in a rather remote location, nearest town seems to be Egilsstaðir and that's a half-hour drive away. Self check-in, you are given a code to access your room key. Breakfast is included. Staff kindly ask guests to not wear shoes in the house. Rooms are rather cramped, but clean, beds were comfy and curtains were blackout. Ambiance is somewhat lacking, the view is okay from the outside but there was construction right next to the house. Okay stop for the Ring Road for one night but...

We only stayed one night and did not use the spa, which you have to pay extra for, but it is there for those who wish to do so. Close to town and great views of the lake. "One of the most beautiful drive to this property located at remote location! Even though it’s gravel road, if you enjoy driving, you’d appreciate the beauty of the nature during entire drive. Other guests spotted whales and dolphins right at front side of property. I and my wife enjoyed our stay. I’d go there again just to enjoy the drive and have a cup of coffee in morning sitting at bench in front of the property hoping to spot whales!"

It was extremely hot in the room, difficult to get comfortable and sleep. Uncomfortable beds. No option to open window. Too bright and only light curtains. "We stayed at Edda one night in July. Parking is free, rooms are basic dormitory style: clean, comfortable beds, white/clean linen, desk and private bathroom. No black out shades or curtains so, if visiting in summer, bring eye mask. Staff was very polite and friendly. Breakfast available for a fee which we did not partake but, the dining area was clean as well. The accommodations at the Edda are basic but the price is proportional to the amenities.
