  • Jagdish Temple is one of the famous temples of Udaipur. Located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur, this temple is made in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. In 1651, Jagdish temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur during 1628-53. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Laxmi Narayan), the preserver of the Universe. It is celebrated for being the largest temple in the city of Udaipur. The gateway of this temple can be sited at a distance of 150 meters from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. This three-storied temple is a wonder of architecture that comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. In those times, 1.5 million rupees were spent to raise this structure. The spire of the main temple is around 79 feet high that undoubtedly dominates the skyline of Udaipur. This shikhar (spire) is festooned with sculptures of dancers, elephants, horsemen and musicians making it truly a sight to behold. As and when you approach the temple, you will be welcomed by two huge stone elephants at the entrance. On the very front of the temple, you would find a stone slab that is imprinted with the inscriptions with reference to Maharaja Jagat Singh. To reach the main shrine, you have to take a marble flight of 32 steps. Here, you will find a brass image of Garuda, a figure of half-man and half-eagle. This huge idol stands as if; it is guarding the doorway of Lord Vishnu.

The property itself is unique the greenery and the beautifully curated rooms and the flora designed is really soothing, relaxing and rejuvenating. However, the breakfast spread can be improved also to promote the unique Rajasthan cuisine which is not easily found or not authentic, Hatta curry, poha, bhajiya is easily available and has many variations

We had the most amazing stay at the Taj Aravali. The hospitalilty we experienced from everyone at the resort will be hard to beat. The restaurant staff to house keepers, the cart drivers to the reception everyone were very welcoming and the property itself is very luxurious with very good facilities. They are building 10 rooms with their own swimming pool and will be keen to return in one of those.

Amazing stay at a home away from home

I would not hesitate to recommend this property to my friends and family and would definitely like to come back to stay again for longer period. The gatekeepers Suraj and Kamal were always very polite always. They would always open the door of the building, car and ensure that our car was always filled with whatever it required. They also ensured that our luggage was always taken care of . Front desk person Atul ji was awesome.He ensured that our tours and our stay was comfortable.Housekeeping staff anju and others were awesome.Dining team Surendra ,Sumit Kumar, Sunil, Rekhu,Priya,Mohit Sunil and Mohan ensured all our dietary requirements were taken care of. These are the front end staff. I know a lot of things were done behind the scene and lot of effort went in by numerous staff in making our experience an incredible one. We loved the Taj team at Aravali.

We came to the Taj on a whim when our original lodging wasn’t to our liking. This place was very much to our liking. The rooms were spacious, the grounds were appealing, the restaurants were very nice though they lacked many gluten/dairy free options. We did appreciate how well the menus described each item. The staff were excellent. Though the location is off the beaten path, would definitely stay here again
