  • Jagdish Temple is one of the famous temples of Udaipur. Located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur, this temple is made in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. In 1651, Jagdish temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur during 1628-53. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Laxmi Narayan), the preserver of the Universe. It is celebrated for being the largest temple in the city of Udaipur. The gateway of this temple can be sited at a distance of 150 meters from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. This three-storied temple is a wonder of architecture that comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. In those times, 1.5 million rupees were spent to raise this structure. The spire of the main temple is around 79 feet high that undoubtedly dominates the skyline of Udaipur. This shikhar (spire) is festooned with sculptures of dancers, elephants, horsemen and musicians making it truly a sight to behold. As and when you approach the temple, you will be welcomed by two huge stone elephants at the entrance. On the very front of the temple, you would find a stone slab that is imprinted with the inscriptions with reference to Maharaja Jagat Singh. To reach the main shrine, you have to take a marble flight of 32 steps. Here, you will find a brass image of Garuda, a figure of half-man and half-eagle. This huge idol stands as if; it is guarding the doorway of Lord Vishnu.

Good location, staff are great, bathroom needs work. Downside is the upstairs rooftop club that plays loud music from 6pm- midnight which you can hear very loudly from your room. Just an FYI if you’re travelling and trying to get a decent night sleep

Excellent service. Rooms were relatively cleaner than average. However there is no hot water which makes showering very uncomfortable. The shower itself also has no door so water gets all over the bathroom floor.

The hotel restaurant is closed. There are multiple renovations going on so the place is dirty, dusty, noisy, and does not allow outside food to be brought in. The management does not care and refused to allow me to change rooms to escape the dirt and the noise. Unfriendly, unapologetic and inflexible. I felt unwelcome. Never again. AVOID.

Le personnel de l’hotel Red Pier à Udaipur s’est simplement réfugié derrière sa réglementation interne pour refuser tout arrangement, allant jusqu’à être incorrect au téléphone malgré nos nombreuses tentatives de discussion. Roads towards this hotel are very narrow. It is impossible to come here in car. Location is very complicated and overpriced. I paid 68$ per room and it’s not worth at all. I lived in 10$ per room hotel 2 years back were better than this. Even though I paid close to 7000 INR they are saying breakfast is not included for us but for others it is included. While selecting the room I selected best available options still no breakfast. Facility doesn’t have parking they say parking available at extra cost but that is misleading there is no way to bring car to facility. You have to park at municipal parking spot. I would never recommend this hotel. I will never come back to this place again. There are more healthy, tasty and reasonable breakfast available outside. The view from rooftop is good but that you can find in many other hotels. Price is not worth it.

A little noisy, but overall pleasant!

The room was very basic, including the mattress which was far from premium bedding. On a very positive note check in was available very early (6am) which was extremely welcomed after a long overnight trip! Hotel also was a bit noisy during our 3 night stay early mornings!

They told us the room we had booked (4 beds family) was being renovated so they would give us two twin rooms. We only booked there as they could accommodate all 4 of us in a room. The rooms they gave us were shabby, very noisy, had cockroaches in bathroom, saw a mouse in the reception area, husband could not sleep as too tall to fit in the bed frame, aircon did not work and when we checked the filters they were absolutely filthy. They agreed to give us our money back for the first night so we agreed to stay for the second that we had booked and paid for, but then they refused to give us anything back. Disgraceful hotel with dishonest managers.

Large,comfortable and clean room, staff very helpful and polite, restaurant food was very good although the menu was not extensive. We enjoyed staying in Poonam Haveli. Only negative point: The entrance on a very busy road, no parking in front or anywhere for guests.

Clean hotel, rooftop terrace close to lake pichola

Nice hotel in the old town close to lake pichola and 5 minutes walk to the city palace.Rooms clean and beds are comfortable and a small balcony outside the room. Good breakfast on the rooftop terrace with a nice view. Restaurant has a limited choice menu but there are plenty of other restaurants close by.Staff are helpful and aim to please.
