  • Jagdish Temple is one of the famous temples of Udaipur. Located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur, this temple is made in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. In 1651, Jagdish temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur during 1628-53. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Laxmi Narayan), the preserver of the Universe. It is celebrated for being the largest temple in the city of Udaipur. The gateway of this temple can be sited at a distance of 150 meters from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. This three-storied temple is a wonder of architecture that comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. In those times, 1.5 million rupees were spent to raise this structure. The spire of the main temple is around 79 feet high that undoubtedly dominates the skyline of Udaipur. This shikhar (spire) is festooned with sculptures of dancers, elephants, horsemen and musicians making it truly a sight to behold. As and when you approach the temple, you will be welcomed by two huge stone elephants at the entrance. On the very front of the temple, you would find a stone slab that is imprinted with the inscriptions with reference to Maharaja Jagat Singh. To reach the main shrine, you have to take a marble flight of 32 steps. Here, you will find a brass image of Garuda, a figure of half-man and half-eagle. This huge idol stands as if; it is guarding the doorway of Lord Vishnu.

Worst hotel to stay

This hotel simply decline us to give room after paying full amount 3 months before. The hotel staff was arrogant and behaved stupidly just for the sake of money since it was 1st Jan. I hope they will improve their behaviour and services. Thanks

Homely Guest House

Very friendly and helpful staff. Spacious room and comfortable bed. Roof-top area with a lake view. Great location. For the light sleepers, bring earplugs as there is an early morning call from a nearby mosque - for us, it was perfectly fine :-). Very homely and comfortable atmosphere. Would stay here again. Thank you.

Ruhiges, einfaches, sehr zentral gelegenes kleines Hotel mit schönem Garten und toller Dachterrasse mit Blick auf den See, Frühstück sehr lecker und grosse Auswahl - Müsli Spezial sehr empfehlenswert mit viel frischem Obst, Zimmer sehr einfach mit noch einfacherem Bad, sehr nettes zuvorkommendes Personal, Altstadt, Museum, Schiffsrundfahrt, schöne kleine Läden mit vielfältigem Angebot, Cafés mit Blick auf See...Tolle Stadt mit grandiosem Flair!

Very disappointing

Very amateur management of a nice building in quiet location. Service did not match the price and the experience was very different from the impression we had from the website. Would not recommend. Young staff sleep in in the morning so don't expect any service until they feel up to it.

Von außen unscheinbar - von innen wirklich schön!

Hätten wir das Hotel nur von außen gesehen, wären wir vermutlich nie reingegangen, die Außenanlage ist unfertig, das Gebäude nicht gleich einladend. Von innen allerdings das komplette Gegenteil, alles sehr gepflegt, die Zimmer sehr groß und vor allem tiptop sauber! Die Lage ist sehr zentral aber ein wenig versteckt.

Traditional Guesthouse accommodation

Traditional guesthouse accommodation in residential area with some views over Lake Palace. Our room was simply furnished, clean and comfortable ... It reminded me of staying at a friend's home in Pune. Members of staff are extremely helpful. The rooftop restaurant was a nice place to relax and meet other guests. Heritage Hibiscus is in need of a little attention to bring it Back to 5 star status ... Like a majority of hotels and guest houses around the world.
