Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf

10/10 Excellent

"We chose Riu San Francisco due to the location near to the pick-up/drop-off for planned tours and that worked very well. The room was clean and housekeeping kept it clean during our 5-night stay. The rooms were a bit noisy and not well insulated for sound. The touristy neighborhood around the hotel was dirty…. not the fault of Riu because their areas were very clean, but once you leave the hotel, not so much. The very best part of our stay was the breakfast buffet that we enjoyed every morning! Lots of choices and very fresh and delicious!"

"This is a motel, but it has been fully, tastefully renovated. As of 2026 it is in excellent condition. But walls are thin so bring ear plugs to avoid being kept awake by neighbor’s talking and TV or the nearby highway. The amenities are standard. Check in was easy. This is not a fancy place but it is very solid and comfortable."

"This property offers large rooms with kitchens and a great pool area. Unfortunately the staff is rude to people who have booked through third parties and very un-accommodating with their pet/ animal policy. The first time we booked a stay at this hotel we arrived and they informed us they could not accommodate our pet despite the website saying they were pet friendly. The second time we stayed we booked direct and it took 30 minutes on the phone with their staff to navigate the variety of random rates and offers they had to confirm our stay. Although the property is nice, the staff and way they operate the property is not great. This property is also right off the free way, so some of the rooms have a good amount of noise."

"This was only a lay over location for us after visiting Muir NP. The room was comfortable and we had a small patio to sit out on, on the ground floor. There’s a good restaurant right next to the hotel that is worth going to as well. Only criticism is that they have some things set up to be more sustainable BUT the paper plates they use for breakfast has printed on it about being compostable except in California."
