"Manager said he was giving me great balcony unit and misled me when I got to room and balcony was very much smaller than all other balconies and I could not see past balconies neighboring mine. Also had no chair on my balcony and others had chairs and table. I paid same price gift courtyard or balcony and mgr acted like he was doing me favor when hotel was not close to having all sold out. He never told me my balcony was smaller than others and let me find out in my own vs tell me in advance. Terrible. Also - coffee maker should be in each room for hotel of ghus caliber. Chairs in courtyard super uncomfortable. Very deep and backrest too low to sit comfortably."

"Clean, very modern, upscale. Never feels crowded, everyone was friendly & welcoming. Great cappuccino at the lobby coffee spot, wonderful drinks at the rooftop. Can’t beat the location either. Stayed here twice & would love to return! "

"Breakfast was excellent, great shuttle to cruise port, bed comfortable. The only issue was road noise. The hard scape on the buildings made the noise worse, but there is nothing that can be done about that. If we were taking another cruise out of Tampa, we would stay here again."

"Rooms were always clean, and the staff at the pool bar and restaurant were very friendly. The staff at the front desk though? I have never encountered worse. When I checked in, the man appeared almost mad towards me. Had issues with my room and asked to be placed in similar room to what I had originally, the man said nothing nor looked at me and just handed me a new room key. Then at checkout to find out I was charged a 34.50 daily charge?! "

"I was disappointed to discover that this hotel also operates as a dormitory for the University of Tampa, which was not disclosed at the time of booking. As a result, the overall experience was far from what I expected from a hotel stay. Amenities such as the pool were essentially unusable due to overcrowding, and the lack of peace and quiet was a major issue. The hallways were consistently loud, with significant noise from late-night activity—often from 11:00 PM through 5:30 AM—making it difficult to rest. My stay, from Thursday through Sunday morning, was unfortunately very unpleasant. I strongly believe the Barrymore should be more transparent about this arrangement so guests can make informed decisions. Overall, this was a highly disappointing experience, and I would not recommend staying here."
