"The Teahupo’o surf break is basically directly out front (off-shore at the reef, of course) but water taxis are right at the shore by the front gate of pension so the location could not be better from that POV.
It’s a short walk (5 minutes) on a nice beach path from the Teahupo’o photo wave spot and Olympic rings, or you can drive to the pension and park but only if you’ve got a vehicle capable of river-crossing - so that adds to the charm of the place as well.

"I stayed in the Kava bungalow which I thought was excellent. That said, the stairs to the loft where the main bed is are small and steep so something to keep in mind if you need to try to make it down to use the bathroom and back up in the dead of night.

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Fare Arihau Vairoo. The room was lovely and comfortable. Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming and took care of us as though we were family. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. All the food was prepared by our host from local ingredients mostly grown in their own garden. All the food was exceptional and the service, some from our hosts little girls, was delightful."

"Spacious 3 bedroom villa with great air conditioning in bedrooms, wonderful deck and plunge pool. Handy to have washing machine. Close to good restaurants. Welcome guide would be helpful or more communication with host / front desk re garbage etc. We had no mosquitoes and sat outside at dusk and in the evenings. Wonderful stay!"

"The Tahiti Airport Motel is basic but reasonable for a 1 night stay when proximity to the main airport is a priority. The rooms are small but clean and adequate. The front desk clerk spoke English and was helpful. The weird thing is that you can see the motel from the front of the airport but you really can't walk there (especially with luggage) and they do NOT have a shuttle. "Very nice place, very kind of them to let late night travelers use the lounge space. But the architects who forgot to put fans in the bathrooms were stupid! Hot and humid in the restrooms and the poor cleaners have to go back multiple times each day.
But a lovely hotel, great folks working there!"
