The staff at The Golden Lion were incredible. Everyone was helpful and kind. The breakfast was really tasty. And I loved that there were some hours reserved only for the hotel residents before/after the public could come in. Great location. It was fantastic. I'd stay there again!

Lovely stay, first night was noisy so we complained and the lovely manager was very understanding. Second night was great. Lovely staff and great food. The room was great too

Despite using this hotel for drinks and meals for years, I had never stayed. I was pleasantly surprised and would recommend. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment, served pretty cold both days. On the first day I asked for cold beans with my full English and was told the chef had refused to do that, I needn’t have worried, the whole breakfast was cold 😃 Desk staff and bar staff were superb.

Very pleasant hotel. Fantastic food and service. Only gripe was that the weather was hot and there is not AC in to rooms, but a fan is provided and that made the night ok

St Ives break.
Friendly staff, excellent location for the river and meadow walks. Clean, well maintained. Very good breakfast. Parking is a slight problem, Waitrose supermarket has long term stay, £4 a day, short walk away.

Lovely and conveniently located.
This is a lovely coaching inn and despite there not being any parking due to the central location, there is a large car park a 5 minute walk away - and it only costs £4 for 24 hours. The communal areas of the inn are nicely decorated and, although our double room was a bit on the small side and the bathroom was tiny, it was still comfortable. Drinks are reasonably priced in the bar and the breakfast was very good.

Pleasant stay in st Ives
A very pleasant hotel with lots of charm. The food was mediocre but the hotel and its character made up for this. The room was large and spacious and the amenities very good with great products in the bathroom

Faultless
Great hotel, public car park 200m away was jusr £4 for 24hrs Friendly team, good bar and nice breakfast selection The hotel is in the town centre and so we requested a quiet room, and it was Highly recommended in a pretty and bustling town

Poor management and food
The 1st breakfast was dreadful. Even the Toast was not cooked properly. Food quickly got cold as served on cold plates. Next 2 days food better as asked for hot plates and cooked toast.staircase was never cleaned/hoovered while we were there for 3 nights. Bedside lamps not working and Did not get fixed during our stay. General poor hotel management. We have stayed 8+ nights in the past few months and the food has always been poor. Unfortunately there is very limited hotels in st Ives.

Centrally located hotel.
The room was exceptionally clean and toiletries eco friendly . The staff were all helpful. Assisted with luggage to the room. We also ate for a lunch and Sunday lunch. Breakfast was included with a very good choice. The only thing was the shower was difficult to turn on. We are staying again in March 2023.
Loved all the pictures of lions. Some very funny. This is just a few of them.

The hotel is attractive and spacious. Room was a bit small, limited place for luggage. Reception was unable to clarify the parking rules outside the hotel. We were misinformed about this prior to booking. Difficult to get a space to unload. Long stay car park a few minutes walk. Breakfast choices were good, but poached egg was hard unfortunately.

Let themselves down at the last hurdle
Lovely hotel but absolutely ruined by the service. Waited 45mins to be served simple breakfast order whilst the other couple of tables that were seated after us got food within 20mins. When asked what had happened to our breakfast we were ignored and never received an answer so still waiting for the food and an explanation. Had a reasonably long drive home with no food. Will not be staying again which is a shame because the place is genuinely very good.

From home to home
Stayed for two nights and found that all staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and bathroom as well. Would definitely stay there again.
